I think I heard someone mention that MS pulled the download because it got leaked to Torrent sites or something? Is this true?

I would really like to try it out and if anyone has any info I would appreciate it. Oh and I dont want to get it from a torrent site either because I believe you still need a key.....

    Read this:

    Edit:
I found this note on the Windows 7 download page:

    "To protect your MP3 files
    1. Before you install this Beta release, back up all MP3 files that might be accessed by the computer, including those on removable media or network shares.
    2. Install the Beta release of Windows 7; download and install the Update to Windows 7 Beta"

Is Windows 7 going to delete all my MP3s? is it going to automagically convert them to wma?

XP64 is the worst implementation of 64bit microsoft has ever attempted.

    Vista puts xp64 to shame.

It depends what programs you use bro. If you use typical WMP, games, movies, etc... then ya XP64 is going to blow. But if you use programs like Photoshop, XSI, Maya, etc... then it is fine. If you dont have Vista, dual boot ftw. If you do, all the better, because Vista 64 uses 32bit instructions pretty well (not great but whatever).
I wouldnt say Vista puts XP (64) to shame, its just a little easier with Vista.

If you turned off the option to retrieve info from the net for your MP3s, it probably won't effect you. Did you, Papu?
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

    Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

    Random Tip o' the Whatever
You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.

Took two for my good ol' P4 so unless you are running an Intel 8088(5Mhz anyone?) you should be fine.

Obviously not too good on the linux front are you? Faster, more stable, and able to be customized to your heart's content. Sure, it may take a little learning and smarts, but that's just like overclocking isn't it?

I got it off technet today.

First attempt wouldn't install i didn't set the primary boot as CD-ROM (used the F12 key for boot menu)

installed pretty fast, and setup pretty fast.

I don't get the quick boot, it's a tad faster than vista, but it's not what i thought it'd be

Overall, the OS feels faster, it still uses a lot of ram, but that's ok - with prices this low i can always add another 4 GB.

I like aeropeek and the re-designed taskbar. I like being able to hide icons that i don't care to look at and the grouping is nice.

Everything i installed works except for anti-virus (McAfee 8.5i).

One annoying thing is the start+E doesn't go to my computer anymore and where msft placed different files is strange (User account)

UAC is a lot better overall and the wlan finding is nice. MCE is nice too. No more hacks for clear qam.

If this is the beta, i can only hope that the RTM is faster (i hear that beta is non optimized). It's starting to look like a good os.

One more thing. My gadgets dissapeared.

I got it install and going the 64 bit verision and love it so far. Works smoother then Vista and it is on a crapper Harddrive then Vista is. I am waiting to fully switch over till the final product is out but this one looks good. after I installed everything I needed minus Steam and TF2 so far it is just under 1 gb of ram on startup. Everything I have tried on it works amazingly like usual so no complaints YET.

Ok I got it up and got most my stuff installed except steam and a few games, but I will do that later tomorrow when I have time. Here is a screen shot of it so far and no problems yet that I can find with anything other then my Logitech Webcam but I am going to try the driver from the website and I bet that fixes it.

Sorry for the crappy pictures but I dont have PhotoShop on here yet and I just used Paint which has been redone a lot also.

The first picture is just the desktop with the little preview window at the bottom

The second one is with multiple windows up and then holding the mouse over one of the programs it turns all the windows transparent except the program you are pointing to.
