Thanks for posting this. There is the low power X2 review on the same site .
Hmm,seems AMD indeed got better perf/watt for their platform. How are the prices? Afaik Atoms can't be bought separately and there aren't any other chipsets than Intels powerhog?
Well, getting X2 3250e as soon as it hits Scandinavian market.
this is true only issue is it still might be to much for netbooks. the cooling in the celeron/atom based EEEPC is at the edge already. you might be able to pack it into 10" netbooks but 8.9" dont have the room for the extra cooling needed. AMD needs to drop the TDP a smidge more
IF 1.5 GHz dual core consumes 18-20 W(22W TDP), then at 1 GHz the same CPU will consume 12-14 W(15 W TDP). Thats with the stock vCore(1 V). If they cut the vCore to 0.9V and keep the 1 GHz, then the TDP will be around 12-13W and the actual power consumption will be around 10-11W.
So, all they have to do is to cut the CPU frequency to 66% and vCore to 90% to almost halve the TDP. Undervolting chipset would work aswell.
However, I doubt anyone needs a dual core for their netbooks. Honestly, they are not intended to have them. The priority is long battery life, not high performance. These dualies for laptops then... PERFECT!
I got the 8W model yesterday, but no time to test it yet.
