New at benchmarking - Want to compare Vista and XP performance.

Hi. I'm new at benchmarking and would like to compare Vista and XP performance as well as possibly Windows 7. I've been using these tools so far:

PCmarks vantage, 3dMarks vantage, SuperPi, HDTune
Games: Crysis, HL2

Am I using the right ones? What are the most important/main ones I should be using to really show how these 3 OS compare against each other?

At least: You have to show in a print that you are using the same settings, ex. CPU-Z and Rivatuner.

Crysis benchmarking and 3DMark2006 are the most common, Vantage is more difficult because that one dosen´t run on XP. If you got possibility run XP 64-bit, maybe you can do 32bit vs. 64bit?

Well I've been using Vantage. I don't see 3dmark 06 benchmarks around anymore, do you recommend it worth benchmarking XP? I'm only doing Vista comparisons now

In your original post you mentioned comparing 3 OS. But how can you do so with vantage
if you can't run it on XP, that's why Computerville suggests using 2006.

NuclearMC is a pretty neat tool, it shows both
multi-thread speed as well as single thread. You can really up your score by overclocking
and adjusting your memory timings. But as most people whinge about vista being such a memory hog
I guess this will show.

the old 3dmark01 and wprime i think are suitable for you
