How do you report bugs to Asus engineers? I tried and got this:

    Hello,

The tech support team, unfortunately, is not 'in the loop' regarding what, if any, changes are planned for any BIOS, for any board, so we can't say what, if anything may be done, or when it's released, nor does our engineering department have a point of contact for this type of query. All we can suggest if you own the board is to check the download page periodically to see what is available.

    Regards,

    Asus Support Team
If you have an Asus contact, can you also tell them that S3 Resume is broken above 170 BCLK? Above 170 BCLK, It will sleep and resume once, and on the second sleep it won't resume. Thanks.

thats because their tech support department, like 99% of all others, is totally incompetent, and likely did not understand what we were even talking about, and thus did not relay it to the engineers... Good that they're finally at least aware of this issue, though can't really understand how every other manufacturer besides asus thought of this...

Do you mean they dont understand the issue your explaining? why not just direct them to this thread, last few pages maybe.

It's strange they claim to be unaware of it as this was posted on the asus support forum almost 4 weeks ago?

Their engineers don't read those forums. Hell, their support team doesn't even read them. It's user to user.

And you really think, they will fix the issue with the Override?
First they argued, that they won´t fix it because they don´t want to go around (bypass) Intel´s specs. (the intel board self can do )

Hopefully they will do that quickly and maybe even get lower multiplier for the QPI and unleash the power of the i920 !!

cstkl1, any chances you can have one of your friends at ASUS get us a bios version with a x14/x16 QPI multi so we can do some serious i920 OC ?

    not a friend dude
    just called one fae
and he gave me the phone no and email of the other
lets see how the fix the bios or whether they reply with a valid reason

cause when i spoke to them they had no clue what i was talking about
then i was like eh.. didnt anybody tell u guys about this issue??
so emailed him the forums and also gigabyte fix

    but its true
if this mobo has a tdp overide
    it will be unchallengeable
as it is r2e seems to have no issue with any rams especially with xmp

And here was the original request from some months ago that I made under Feedback & Suggestions...

    http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?...Language=en-us

This information was forwarded by Ulrich to some of his Asus contacts, but it seems that's where it stopped. I also informed one of their engineers (or somebody that calls themselves and engineer) of this around the same time, but again, seems that this has fallen on deaf ears. I think the name was Tim or something, not sure any more...

I fail to see though how they do not understand that there is a TDP limit on this board that is being triggered.

    Let's see what happens now...

I wont hold my breath, by the looks of it they are playing ignorant to the issue, im just baffled as to why that is?

its not like it cant be done, like someone said even intel have done it on the smackover board, so the intel limit excuse is not valid really is it?

I'm curious about what you guys have been debating because in my P6T (not the deluxe version) I can run at 191x21 with 1.4v full load and the multi won't drop to 20

I'm sorry if there's something I'm missing but it seems the P6T has this issue fixed, no?

I hope asus does fix it. I have GB extreme, but was thinking of getting a P6 for wife, but not if OCing is hampered by TDP or temps.

On GB, there is no TDP limit, no temp or current limit (other than thermal throttling) all are completely disabled. You can run everest to read watts and amps from cpu, and read temps and see.

GB EX i940 at stock, linpack load is around 100W cpu, idle around 6-8W.

at 4.2 overclock with 1.38v load linpack load is around 155W amps around 100. (using F3 bios on GB Ex which did have TDP limit before being disabled in future bioses, you can watch turbo disengage as everest reads about 110 to 120W)

And at 4.4 overclock with 1.55Vcore linpack + coredamage running simultaneously load is over 200W and high amps and temps 100C (I disabled thermal monitor so logs but not throttle) and GB extreme is still in turbo 23 multi and all cores active at turbo mode...see pic. (and yes my cpu is still fine).

If P6 gets TDP disabled, I will buy that for wife, if not guess another x58 with buggy bios still.

Yes, that is true. Only Asus seem to have this limitation. Even Intel-Boards can go around the TDP

    Isn´t that ironic?

    @khalmyr: Try a higher setting. Turbo mode 20+1 x 200.
If you are running the turbo mode (20+1) and you´re above 1.35v Voltage (real, not bios setting). Start prime95, cinebench etc. and the the multi throttles down to a totally curious value (20,4 / 20 etc.) By the way... 20,4 shouldn´t even appear, because ther are only full values for the multiplier.

So is it worthy to wait 1 or 2 weeks for the V2 ones ?

Tell me who should know that!?

Maybe yes! A newer Version can (not must) have better opportunities. But very often, when you buy a newer one on release, YOU are the beta tester
