    Hailea HC-500a "50.0" failure?

    Hey guys,
I own a Hailea HC-500a chiller for over 2 years now and didn't use it in the last 6 months.
4 days ago I wanted to switch it on again, just for a cooling run of my test-setup and the display shows "50.0".
I can set the temperature to reach as usual, but it doesn't show me the actual water-temp.
The chiller starts and runs, but the display is always showing "50.0".
I don't know what to do.

I sent an e-mail to Hailea already but no response yet.

    Any advices?

just sounds like the sensore is stuck, maybe a loose connection or something.

sensors can go... They are usually pretty easy to replace if needed.

    Okay, but there's a problem.
I don't have a clue where to buy a new sensor.
Hailea is not responding on my emails and I don't know any reseller except Aquatuning.de who sells these chillers.
Aquatuning cannot "deliver" such a sensor.

    Okay, I opened the chiller.
They connection between controller and sensor is connected and good.
I switched the chiller on and the display shows 50.0, then I set the temp to reach and it chills.
But the chiller cannot reach the temp so it chills constantly.

I'm not particularly privy to you particular unit; perhaps a few pictures of the offending device could help.

    Anyways, this is what's happening.

You have a faulty temperature sensor. Your water is reaching the appropriate temperature, but the sensor is telling the controller that the temp hasn't changed. The temp it reports is erroneous, but your controller doesn't know that; it keeps on working as if the temp is unchanged.

Do you have any kind of manual or documentation on this unit?
    Regards, Stew.....
