Need help making a custom radgrill for a quad rad

    Hey guys,
I am about to take part of a modding contest/show here in Israel in a few days.
The modding will include two loops inside a Lian Li G70 w/ window.
The bigger loop for the CPU includes the Feser X-changer 480 which will take place in the (internal) upper panel of the case.

Now initially I was going to have the panel cut to fit the rad size and add the upcoming iandh radgrill on top.
Due to unforeseen problems, the radgrill wouldn't make it in time.

Now I am left with the burden of making my own solution which needs to be aesthetic, functional and doable in the short time frame i have (4 days).

So far the best idea I have came up with is like that:
The idea is to integrate the radgrill into the panel and use some filter below that.

So I will have the panel cut in the shape of the Bitspower mesh radgrill:

and instead of the mesh I will use some aluminum fan filters I recently purchased from Petra's:

I know it's not the best looking idea on earth, but it is functional and I think will be looking fine as the cutting will be made by a machine using exact mechanical draw of the desired solution.

I think I can pull it off in time but honestly I am not 100% sure it's what i want.

Any help/ideas would be wonderful, thanks

You could also look into AC Ryans modders mesh instead of the fan filters.

That is a nice idea too if I could find something similar here locally.
The fan filter are better in terms of functionality IMO.

www.caseking.de has them. (I don't know whats locally for you).

An alternative I'm going for in my next build is to include the fan filters, but have them inside the case and the modders mesh filling in the holes to my radmount. (of course the fan are drawing air through the filters).
I'm going to have mesh in the entire side, so air is not a problem.

If I were you, I'd get something that works.
There are 4 rad grill designs.

Eddie, what designs do you refer to ?
Right now nothing works for quad rad grill as there is nothing in the market for that.

As I said, I'm located in Israel, not a very wealthy country in terms of modding gear, I usually order 95% of my modding gear abroad.

Israel is very expensive, so I feel your pain. When my cousins come to the states, they bring a 2nd empty suitcase
Someone made a quad grill.. I'd have to check who.

The price is not the issue(though it is expensive), there is a lack of parts and products you can find in a large degree in the states and even Europe.

AFAIK, the only company made a quad radgrill is Feser themselves but I didn't like its design (carbon ?!?!) so I am passing on that one.

let me know if you find anything interesting.
    Thanks.

Iandh is waiting to ship his own quad grills to Petras tech shop. Only thing is that they come in black. You might be able to get him to sell you one that isn't powercoated. Alternatively, I've seen one instance of someone using two 240 grills slightly modified by having the very ends cut off. This is was on a silver Lian Li G70 like yours. Here is the thread so you can see what he did.

    Good luck!

Thanks for the link alejo, that is some high quality build.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to get a hold of two dual radgrills like that in a few days.
regarding ianh, as I mentioned in my first post, I contacted him personally and due to some problems it wouldn't make it in time.

I want to integrate some sort of filter and a grill together into the panel.
I can just make a radgrill figure in the panel but in the long term that wouldn't be wise as dust will be stuffed in and I wouldn't want to disassemble the rad to clean it.

I guess I just need to figure out the best design.

I was inspired by the aqua computer mod for the Lian Li G70:

Now the cutting is going to be something like that:

Probably gonna fill up the two rectangles at the edges to make all 4 squares symmetric/identical.
Now I got the figure ready, I just need to find some proper mesh and have it cut

    OK Guys,
I am sharing something that might help other people in the future with Lian Li G70 or other Lian Li Full tower cases with same top panel size (563 mm).
Below is the mechanical sketch I used for my panel to fit the TFC X-Changer 480.

The annotations: the 42 mm size one the very left is the front of the panel.

What is special about it ?
First, it fits exactly into the chassis, by the accuracy of the millimeter.
Second, it lets you use you own mesh/filters which doesn't require a grill, as for this moment aside from the Feser rads, doesn't exist for Quad rads.

Hopefully tomorrow I will have my parts back from the cut/mill and I will post some pics if I'll find the time, the contest is on Thursday morning, less than 48 hours.

I don't like the way the edges of the filter chassis stick out into the cut out portion. I would have tried to find some decent mesh and used that instead.

Its not perfect but due to the short time frame I had there weren't many options.
I also had a perforated panel made which was supposed to be installed instead of the filter but I didn't like that way it looked, it was too harsh.
In the future I will use some mesh to make it look more sleek, but the way it is right now is nice I think.
