2x1GB OCZ Reaper PC-9200/1150MHz being annoying...

After reading many reviews of this memory and seeing people get the kit stable at up to 1000MHz with 4-4-4-8 2T I thought fantastic, these sound great.

So I've been trying now for a couple of days to get 930MHz 4-4-4 stable; however even at 2.2v and with plenty of juice in FSB, HT, and Chipsets, Orthos just crashes within a minute, yet my goal is tame compared to what some people attempt. When I decided to give up I loosened the timings to 5-5-5-18 at 930MHz still at 2.15v and my PC froze whilst loading desktop LOL. What is up with this ram? - my PC6400 4GB kit could do 930 CL5 on 2v no bother without the higher chipset voltages, so I was expecting something a lot better from this superior kit...

I thought maybe it's my motherboard, but then I thought no - the 680i is renowned for having a good memory controller, isn't it?

    Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

recent chips aren't as good as back in the days, hence the super cheap prices.

Yeah I wondered if they still use the same ICs; I got this kit nice and cheap. I ran memtest at the EPP 1142MHz 5-5-5-18 with 2.15v and it survived two passes no problem at all, so I'm surprised it can do that at such a low voltage yet can't pull CL4 at 930MHz with 2.2v. Bummer. Thanks for the response.
