    965 + Gigabyte X58 UD5 + MSI 4870x2 single card first test

hey guys! spent 100L to get to know the board and all more

quite tight for time so basically i just did what my sponsors wanted me to do. and thats hammer single card 3dmark06.

so i did. i will be pushing more later today (sunday). and will try to go for a 5.1ghz 3dmark06 OR vmod the memory on the 4870x2. to try and get 1100mhz rather than my current 1000mhz mem.

basically i have not submitted this score. cuz i intend to push more

    rig is:

    Intel 965 i7 3838A retail
    Gigabyte x58 UD5 F4r bios
    Gskill 12800cl8T 3gbhk @ 2000+mhz cl9 sec hcf0 ics
    MSI 4870X2 @ 1000/1000
    Thermaltake 1000W
    Gskill 64GB SSD
    K|ngp|n's pots

there's a weird issue that my cpu fails to load windows (always hangs at loading screen) above 5.01ghz at ANY voltage. i have gone from -100 to -130 and it dosent help. no cold boot no cold bug. and sadly.. i'm using just 1.568v idle for 5ghz 3dm06.

so its very weird i do not know why yet. i doubt that it is the motherboard. so i will find out later. i have 25L more to do

    so wish me luck!

why boot at 5+? i like booting up at 4.6 and bumping multi and 1-5mhz qpi to benching speeds.

Yeah hanging at windows load is common.
BTW just boot in at a low speed and then setfsb or multi up.

For Gigabyte X58's, use the same PLL as the P45 boards but you need to increase many increments for small changes in bclck

Could you post the full code of your CPU? I got a 3835A552 and a 3838A685 lying here (both 920) and trying to decide which one to take.. and no I can't test both

    i have the same proble
    no boot at 5GHz lol

but i cant bench high either
i tried 1M SuperPi at 5.1GHz which was fine but 32M instant lockup

that was the only combo that worked all others were worse

i think next time i will just try make '06/vantage stable...hopefully 5GHz will work
