Upgrading my P5k Dlx to which mobo to run 3.8 Q6700 Daily?

This P5K I have has been pretty solid, but it has occasional boot problems when I try to take this Q6700 any higher than 3.4GHz.

I've been watching the OC's on the P5Q & it looks promising. I'd like to take this CPU up to 3.8 for daily use.

If there is a different board I should consider, please let me know as well. I really don't want to spend more than $120 second hand/$135 new or open box from the egg if possible.

Cooling is listed in my sig btw.

    Thanks in advance!

{Edit} Changed title to hopefully get more replies!
{Edit Edit} Possibly thinking SLI, so please keep that in mind

    It could be your cpu.

I have a q6600 on a p5k Deluxe (you have a vanilla p5k?) and I get 3.6ghz no problem. I've had 3.8, but bios updates killed that stable OC. If updating the bios was the issue, send me a PM and I'll help you roll back.

I'm in the same boat as you. I have a p5k deluxe and although I have a good OC, I just wonder if the p35 NB is holding my q6600 back.

    I'm also curious...

Is there anyone out there running a q6600/q6700 on a P5Q Deluxe, Rampage Extreme, RAMPAGE FORMULA,. or ASUS Maximus II Formula?

    Edit:

What are your settings and how much vCore?
Are you on air or water?
    Whats your idle/load temps?

    Here's my CPU-Z validation:
    http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=460934

Funny that it doesn't show the vcore, but I'm currently at 1.34 via the BIOS last I checked. I just looked again at my validation & I'm wondering if the 4:5 Ratio on the RAM is the root of the problem although I did try a lower multiplier & higher FSB. Failed boot as usual

This is my sig rig btw. It's a LCS with all the components listed there as well. Although she needs a good "blow-job", temps are very good. With it Crunching, temps are in the mid-40's C. Idle is about 22-23C Ambient is about 19C in my basement.

Nice thing about P45 is that they allow users to enjoy 450FSB easily and at very low chipset volts etc...The LLC on the Asus boards is amasing efficient and allowed me (coming from P5K Dlx) to run my CPU at lower VCore etc... Also the P45 Biosses got more tweak options to dial in ya quad...

I'm currently testing a Gigabyte EP45T-UD3P and with current F3bios I get very nice performance at a cheapo price... thinking of selling my P5Q dlx and keeping this one...

Board retails around 165 euro's, the 4Gb PC12800 DDR3 Excelleram at 120 euro's... Will test a quad later this week
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

DDR3 board? I thought DDR3 on the skt 775 platform performs like poo-poo?

Changed the title... Hope for more replies.. I'm just looking for recommendations for consideration seeing as I cannot just jump into i7 at the moment.

    That's funny.

I can run nearly 500 fsb on my P5K Premium without having to raise nb volts.

Also I run my Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz daily. I can run at 3.8Ghz but the bump in the vcore makes it too hot for my not lapped true w/ single fan @1500rpm :P
more than that is too loud for me.
    Core i7 920 @ 4.0Ghz (3838A431)
    TRUE + 2 Scythe Slipstream 1900rpm
    Asus P6T

    Powercolor HD4870 1Gb

Are your NB volts on AUTO then ? you must have a very good board to do 500FSB on a quad, 475 was the max on my Dlx and not recommended to run 24/7 as I needed waty too high voltages on it...

Well i'm pretty impressed by it... the GB runs with cheap DDR3 1600mhz C9 ran as fast as many highly optimised 1200Mhz C5 DDR2 rams... and I can use them rams for I7 later as they are only 1.7volt ones...

Crap! I might not want to go with the P45 chipset because of lack of support for SLI

I've stopped paying attention to mobos since P35. Does it show?
