[QUOTE=saaya;3820042]how much vdimm did you guys use with the kits that died? and are they dead or degraded? all sticks?
i heard that more than 2v can damage elpida chips quite quickly[/QUOTE

I used max vdimm 1.72. 1 stick died so I am not sure if there was degradation or not. GT 2000 7-8-7 3x2 kit ran for 10 weeks @5:1 mild OC. I say not sure because the kit ran @4:1 after starting to have trouble and then died completely after a week at 4:1.

I just had one of my Kingston HyperX sticks die this weekend never overclocked past 1.65v. ran with low vtt too. They lasted a couple of months, submitted RMA to Kingston. These Elpida do seem to be fragile.

They're the same chips... as you said.

I had 2 kits of OCZ Blade 2000C7 so far, first kit did not meet the specs voltage-wise, second lost 3rd stick after some hours of memtesting the day after. Now waiting for my third kit. Also awaiting a new kit of Dom GT C7 on monday... hope they meet my expectations (and don't die on me).

Mine died couple nights ago. It was the 1866 c7, Same chips. 1.68 volt left computer on over night woke up next morning and it was crashed and wouldn't boot. 2 of the sticks died. The first kit I had had 1 stick DOA and had to RMA. That's two sets in about 3 weeks.

I am going to see if I can get a refund. Luckily this all has happened within the 30 days from purchase but i'm not sure if Newegg will give me a refund.

saaya do you seriously expect people to be truthful about their voltage after they killed their RAM and want to RMA them

not saying anyone was making it up but there is a VERY strong incentive not to tell the truth

i killed my 2000GT CAS8 kit but i was also testin full range of volts up to 2.1v which is the likely cause. i know i will :banana::banana::banana::banana:foot with Elpida based stuff from now on....1.75v absolute max

my 1866 Samsung IC based kit is still find though and it lived most of its life at 2.16Vdimm

    yes i actually do...

lets see it the other way around, if somebody killed his kit with high vdimm, do you expect him to post in the thread i created claiming he used low vdimm? why would he do that?

it has no effect whatsoever on a possible rma, yet he posts wrong and misleading information that might ruin the chance for other people to figure out a problem with their system...

"it has no effect whatsoever on a possible rma"

ROFL are you high or something?!?

have you ever actually RMAed something where you were the cause of the silicone murder, told them and they accepted the RMA

as in oh hi, your RAM is dead. I gave it 2.2v while testing and now they are not working....................no problems Mr.Sascha we will send you another kit. By all means shove 2.2v into them again and we will replace them again when you kill them

Sorry Dinos you are so wrong on this. I am a self repecting person and I would rather take the financial hit than do something like that. Also, I am not into benching(I don't think I ever will get into it), more of a 24/7 stable, gaming rig kind of person, so there is no reason for me to pump too much voltage just to squeeze the extra MHZ.I aways do my homework(about safe voltages and stuff) before I venture into my OCing adventure, so most of the time I know my limits.I also have the philosophy of "When in doubt, always ask", so I would rather ask and look like a NOOB(which I am anyway) than assume about voltages and stuff. So for you to generalize it and make a blunt statement like that, to question our credibility, not cool man.Sorry to say this, but you lost my respect by saying this. I don't know whether you would care as I am a nobody here, but just thought I would post this.

I don't think it's fair to blame this on Corsair at all. They're not making the weak IC's. Anyway, Hypers are dying across the board, doesn't seem to matter what brand you get them from.

Nope, I didn't you called us all liars and I take offense to that.
