    GeIL Evo Corsa DDR3-2133 C9 2x4GB Overclocking test (GOC38GB2133C9ADC)

    Short Intro

As promised, the OC report from the second new GeIL memory kit: Evo Corsa. The most high-end flavour of the Corsa series comes in the following packages (PR copy-paste):

    - 1866MHz CL9-10-9-28, 2GBx2 Dual Channel Kit | GOC34GB1866C9DC (1.5V)
    - 1866MHz CL9-10-9-28, 4GBx2 Dual Channel Kit | GOC38GB1866C9DC (1.5V)
    - 2133MHz CL9-11-9-28, 2GBx2 Dual Channel Kit | GOC34GB2133C9DC (1.65V)
    - 2133MHz CL9-11-9-28, 4GBx2 Dual Channel Kit | GOC38GB2133C9DC (1.65V)

    - 1866MHz CL9-10-9-28, 2GBx4 Quad Channel Kit | GOC38GB1866C9QC (1.5V)
    - 1866MHz CL9-10-9-28, 4GBx4 Quad Channel Kit | GOC316GB1866C9QC (1.5V)
    - 2133MHz CL9-11-9-28, 2GBx4 Quad Channel Kit | GOC38GB2133C9QC (1.65V)
    - 2133MHz CL9-11-9-28, 4GBx4 Quad Channel Kit | GOC316GB2133C9QC (1.65V)

    Pictures of Box and Kit

    Test Setup

Nothing special about the test setup. Just a normal Sandy Bridge build.

    - Core i7 2600k
    - GIGABYTE GA-P67A-UD5-B3(*)
    - Coolermaster Silent Pro 1000W
    - WD Raptor
    - Windows 7 64-bit SP0

    - Y-Cruncher
    - SuperPI 32M

(*) overvolts 0.02-0.03V on Vdimm from BIOS.

    OC Overview Chart

Overview of OC test results. Stability was tested with full SuperPI-32M run at ~ 4.8GHz and then verified with a round of Y-Cruncher (0,1,6). Same findings as with the Enhance Corsa kit: there's not that much difference between both benchmarks: it either worked or it didn't. As for voltage affecting this kit's overclocking capabilities, it seems that this kit can handle higher voltages a bit better than the Enhance version with the sweetspot being around 1.7-1.75V. All in all a decent kit.

    Max Results

    HWBOT - Massman's Memory Clock score 1124.9 MHz with DDR3 SDRAM at 1124.9MHz on Aug 9, 2011

    - DDR3-1862 CL8-9-8
    - DDR3-1900 CL8-9-8 at 1.70-1.72V
    - DDR3-2140 CL9-11-9 at 1.60-1.62V
    - DDR3-2200 CL10-11-10 at 1.64-1.66V
    - DDR3-2240 CL10-11-10 at 1.72-1.74V
    - DDR3-2242 CL10-12-10 at 1.74-1.76V

Man, why the news says they are 2133Mhz 9-10-9-28 while they actually are 9-11-9-28?

Also the model number is different:
    - 2133MHz CL9-10-9-28, 4GBx2 Dual Channel Kit | GOC38GB2133C9DC in the news
    while GOC38GB2133C9ADC on the sticks!

Nice memories btw (perhaps the best in 2x4GB) but I would like to see also some upcoming Eplida 30nm!

Default voltage should be 1.5V not 1.65V.

    I think I'll wait for Elpida 30nm.

I linked the official website. So GeIL is saying crap in its own website?

Probably had envisioned binning 1.5v kits but chips couldn't do it? Maybe website and OP copy/paste are wrong because they are old info...

Also a 1.5V 9-10-9-28 2133Mhz would be much better than those on sale.

Okay, got news. Apparently, the expected ICs were going to do just as the PR said, but the ICs they received are rated for 1.5V ~ 1.65V and CL9-11-9. The website is currently being revised. So rated speeds are:

    - DDR3-1866 CL9-10-9-28 @ 1.50V
    - DDR3-2133 CL9-11-9-28 @ 1.65V

They should, imho, flash the SPD to DDR3-1866 CL8-9-8 at 1.50V.

Do you mind if I quote you on that on the German Hardwareluxx Forum? Some shops copied the info from GeIL's website and some people are angry now because their kits can't do the promised specs.

People should be angry actually... but I am sure they are elegible for refund.

    No problemo

//edit: just give people that report I made if they want to know what they can expect from this kit. Pretty easy chart, imho

It's not a review, it's an overclocking test. Huge difference!

No more in GeIL website under products

    New page:
    http://www.geil.com.tw/products/showSpec/id/315

Specification is now fixed (perhaps they should re-add the entry under products now lol) .
