    ocz platinum or corsair dominators

sorry if this is the wrong place i didn't know where to post it.

i have been thinking about getting 4gb of ram and am currently using 2gb of corsair dominators. i can't decide on what to get.

    this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227298 or this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145214

what i don't like about the dominators is that they are tall and may have problems with some cpu coolers. but the ocz ram doesn't look like it is cooled very well. i have been using the asus mem pipe from my m3a32-mvp on my current dominators and that has worked out fine.

    any opinions or suggestions?

If the OCZ is cheaper and you have the Mempipe cooler, I would go with those - I think they are both good with AMD systems.

Also i believe the OCZ's will be more stable over the Dominators. Dominator are hard to budge over 1130mhz with the newer chips they use. Mine had the Microns @1150mhz(ver 1.2 @2.2v)which are no longer use for DDR2 8500 Dominators.

Dominators are finicy on ASUS to ..Tested Kingstons ,, Viper9600,, Crucial 8500Balistics and OCZ 8500 2x1gigs all performed better than my Dominator 8500's Above 1100mhz if you are overclocking .

im basing the price on the price after rebate and based on that they are pretty much the same price. as far as dominators go the reviews seem to be mixed. i have had many say they are amazing and i have seen many see they can't even overclock it to 1100 which would only be a 34mhz overclock. the dominators i have now are speced for 2.1V but the lowest i can run them on on stock timings/frequency is 2.2V. so i haven't been happy with the dominators so far but the cooling on them is great. i haven't really tried overclocking this ram yet since last time i tried it crashed from a 10 mhz overclock. was initially leaning towards the ocz now im leaning towards the dominators again but idk. not impressed with the cooling on the ocz.

i will most likely get the ocz then. anyone else have any comments?

I have the DFI LanParty Jr 790GX-M2RS and originally got the Dominator 1066 4GB kit for it. I fought for days and two different sets of the memory and never could get it stable at even the default 1066. So I finally replaced the Dominator with the OCZ Reaper HPC 1066 4GB kit. Put it in and set the BIOS for 1066 no problems what so ever. Hands down I won't try Dominator over OCZ ever again.....just my experience, good luck!

thanks a lot. i have heard many great things about dominators but i believe everyone that has said they were good were using an intel system. i too have not been able to get it stable at 1066. i have to overvolt it and even that doesn't make it stable. i have looked at the reapers but im not a big fan of how they look although they look like they cool pretty well. also idk if they would work with the mem pipe i have. and they seem pretty tall. from the performance i have seen on them they look amazing tho.

thanks a lot for the help everyone you have made this choice obvious.
