Question Best mobo for Q6600 ocing?

Hi! First of all... sorry for my bad english!

    Second... to me!

Third... the question: what is the best MB for ocing the Q6600?

I have one G0, and I want to oc it.

First... surfing the net I've found that the P45 is the best for that I want... Is it true?

Well... I have seen these mobos:

From Asus: P5Q Deluxe "and" Maximus II Formula (this is too expensive, I prefer P5Q Deluxe)

From DFI: Lanparty DK P45-T2RS / Plus and UT P45-T2RS (what is the difference between the T2RS and the T2RS Plus? only that the Plus has 2 more SATA? ; and what is the diference between DK and UT, a part of the price )

I only put the mobos with DDR2... would you use DDR2 or mobo with DDR3 support (like P5Q3-Deluxe or T3RS / Plus)?

    Thx for all!

    ByE!

PD: I will use Zalman 9700LED for the CPU

P5Q Dlx and Gigabyte UD3P will give you amasing value for money... I hope you can reach 3.6-3.8Ghz. It for sure will not be one of these mobo's holding ya back, but more the CPU (FSB wall, heat output,...) and ya cooler...

I've got nothing against DFI boards but they are very very complex in the bios department... if you are not a bios engineer you can get very lost in it, though for a tweaker it's a heaven sent

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

God, i hate those zalman coolers...

a P45 mobo is probably recommended, I stick to Asus myself, but each to their own, there is no 110% right answer to that anyway

I would stay with DDR2 but that is me I have not yet wanted to really go to DDR3 yet. I would go with the Deluxe, that is just me I have been looking into getting one soon to get rid of my crap board I have now.

But really it is up to you there is no right answer all these boards will work like they said above its your CPU that will be stopping you. Good luck though

    World record: 5133 MHz

If u have an average chip, u don't need a good/expensive mobo, if u have a nice chip, P45 will be fine. NVidia 780i is another good choice for Q6600.

My P5E hit 4.0GHz stable and could bench at 4.1GHz.

I just got my UD3P so i'm still testing it.

Many like the Gigabyte EP45-UD3P, apparently getting good results from doubling the copper in the motherboard itself with a positive impact on heat management and probably EMI. The Maximus II Formula adds features and style...not important if price is an issue. It 50% more expensive than the Gigabyte. The DFI UT has a digital PWM Buck converter...that converts 12v to 1.2-1.5v for the CPU. It is faster responding, more stable and noise free than the analog setups. For example, I believe the chokes (inside those little square covers) have a 20% production tolerance. The DK just has BIOS features...If going DFI I would pick the UT.

Note, if new to this browse around on this and other forums for motherboard specific threads. See which ones have active posters being successful doing what you want. It implies success is possible and help may be available.

Also, remember your power supply and head sink/fan are part of the equation. Of the boards mentioned, only the Maximus II Formula has a way to add water cooling to the northbridge easily...so case ventilation is also important.

well if you're a noob to oc, better stay clear of the dfi cos you gotta expect to do lotsa tweaking to get everything up and running. It won't be a simple matter of just changing some settings and seeing your cpu fly at 4ghz or whatever

    I'm not a noob ocing!

I've started in this world with the Athlon XP and the Athlon XP-Mobile, do you remember these cpu's?

But... I've busy one-two years and I can't stay at day with actual OC.

This is because I've asked to you what MB has to buy now to OC well.

    P5Q-Deluxe... DK P45-T2RS or UT P45-T2RS... arghhhhhhhh

    Thx!

    ByE!

Yes the P45 is what your looking for and the Gigabyte EP45-UD3P is the one you want.

It's a great over clocking board for quads and dual cores.

OP my Q6600 does 3.91 (unstable though) with a crappy abit IP35-E mobo.
Gigabyte EP45UD3P and R and doing very good these days. Get EP45-UD3P if you want crossfire or the R if u dont want CF.

the t2rs plus adds 2 sata ports and replaces the t2rs, assume that dfi made a few fixes. the difference between dk and ut is the ut board has digital pwm and better cooling, more features, slightly better bundle. the dk boards are fine for 65nm quads.
