    think so too

or may be they thought this cooler would also evacuate the northbridge heat coming through a pipe to the cooler ...
(looks like a Thermalright again btw)

What do you mean by: "Just not the same"? Has something dramatic changed in the company since that time?

I hadn't either, DFI had considerate flops for intel overclocking. The P35 LP line was a success however, so if the same engineers put this board together it could be interesting. I would expect DFI to have an overall better bios than most of the other offerings at least.

The DK X48 is 24/7 stable at 550+ FSB and the JR P45 575 FSB. Guess that could be called a flop.

It says DFI will release 3 models keeping overclockers in mind. The first one is X58-T3EH8 (shown) the others LanParty LP DK X58-T3eH6 and JR X58-T3H. The release date is somewhere at the end of this year (unless DFI make changes in its current road map for x-58 chipset mobos). Other features 24gb ddr3 support, solid capacitors, "advanced bios options", onboard power/reset button and debug features. Both NB and SB will be cooled passively (as you can see in the pictures) and that humongous heatsink at the back will be outside of chasis to offer even more cooling (From the looks of it you can slap a 90mm fan on it). Oh, and it says the color scheme is designed for the enthusiasts with transparent cases (and cases with windows) "who seek to be different in dimmed-light environments." Hey! That's exactly why I use glow-in-the-dark condoms!

Yep, this is definitely the worst layout from X58 series - so far. And I fought ASRock was the worst with that ugly color combination, this DFI model with that bad positioned Heatsink takes the lead. Guess you still need a Floppy to update a DFI BIOS (didn't used one in last 10 years). So far, MSI X58 looks like the best option - IMO.

I agree the JR P45 is simply a beast for a micro atx board. The DK x48 is 550+ FSB stable? Thats for dual cores or 65nm quads correct? The x38 and p35 had troubles hitting high FSB with 45nm Quads. I still own the p35 LP LT paired with 8400 and OCZ reapers using your settings. DFI did well toward the end with Intel, but they need to release there boards sooner. The P965-S Dark was amazing but late. The 680i, RD600, x38, were disappointing for me. I will always look at a DFI offering, it's Asus or DFI for me always. I just wish they'd get there products to market sooner. And if they are gonna be later then hopefully bug free on release.

Which badly positioned heatsink, the optional one that hangs out the back?

lolwut? Why do NB heatsinks keep getting bigger as NB TDPs keep going down and processes keep shrinking? That mosfet cooler is just ridiculous. They need to tap Enzotech for a simple, copper NB solution and mosfet solution. These one-piece lollercoaster heatpipe contraptions have got me depressed.
