    MSI X58 Platinum with i7 920 results!

I haven't seen a thread based on the X58 MSI platinum motherboard so I thought I'd post my results. Now a big * to the fact I am ram limited in my choice now due to only having 2x2gb of Mushkin DDR3 1600mhz rated, I forget the model #.

I can overclock the combo on STOCK aircooling to 3.7ghz. Anything past that is not possible due to heat, as fully loaded in prime at 3.7ghz at 1.325v is 90C. I've upped the vQPI to +0.2v. PLL to 1.82v. Ram voltage to 1.65v. NB and other voltages I've removed from auto and placed at the lowest available setting. At auto the cpu voltage was 1.5v when the system was oc'd :O.

Now the one issue I'm having past cooling, is that I cannot run anything over 1100mhz on the memory. This memory has run 1800mhz for me at 8-8-7 on my P5K3 deluxe. Not sure what is wrong. It won't run 1333mhz even at bus clock of 100. There is no adjustment I can tell to alter NB multiplier.

Overall I like the board, and for the $ it seems to be a very decent overclocker and very stable for me. I think the Asus is probably a better "last drop" overclocker, but for the average user it seems very good. Then again, I may not know the correct setting to change, or we may be a bios setting away from achieving Asus like clocks
    it's never fast enough!

at 1800mhz I was running it at 1.8v. However, I've tried various ram voltages and it doesn't help get higher ram speed. This ram should run 1333mhz at 1.5v easy

Set the RAM to its rated voltage, don't worry about going over 1.65v. Just make sure:
    vDIMM - vQPI ≤ 0.5v

    And you will be fine.

Why do you say the limit is vDIMM - vQPI?

I've tried various ram volts and NO help. I've gone up to 1.85v, which is over where I ran it on the P5K3 deluxe.
    No help.

I'll be getting some tri channel ram and if it still won't go, I have to conclude I have a bad cpu or mobo.

Nice bro I have given my qpi more than that. I want to know why there is a pci choice 37.3 to lock the pci? Isnt it already locked I have used it at real high clocks,(37.3) I need some software that shows me busses and everything none of the new stuff i use doensnt have it. Id like to know all stock voltages. I like the board is good for the money, usually msi releases bios then it starts to kick ass and someone will mod it and make it better. Wheres sideffect these days?

I am guessing the pci freq might not be locked, so when you up your bus and it's on auto it's rising also.. I know it should be locked, but that could be a wonky early bios mistake which will be fixed in a future release. for now it's an easy fix tho.
