Msi X58 Platinum will not POST

I ordered this board last week and installed all the components and it would not POST. So I RMA'd the board. I received the new board yesterday and same thing. The board was coming on for about 20sec. then shutting down. I then took out the cmos battery for 10 min. and now the system comes on and will not POST. It will stay on as long as I leave it on but no POST. I thought maybe it was my PSU mushkin enhanced 550 watt but I put it back into my OC'ed q6600 system and it worked perfectly, I also used my daughters antec 550 wat psu and same problem. I have that system OC'ed to 3.6 ghz. My components are as follows:
    MSI x58 Platinum
    i7 920 cpu
2 gig ocz reaper ram (1333 version)
    Mushkin 550 enhanced PSU
    8800gts GPU
    DD i7 waterblock
    dtek db-1 pump

Any help will be greatly appreciated. By the way I am more of an enthusiast than a gamer.

PS I am not getting any beep codes. I took my system out of my MM H2G0 and put it into my antec nine hundred (has a speaker) to test for beep codes and I do not get any codes. Is there any possibility my cpu is dead?

Yeah, sounds like a bad board. Thats how my P7N went out. MSI then sent me a board with no heatsinks. Their quality control is horriffic. Ill never buy another MSI product.

I decided to only rma the cpu and ram. I just got the board back yesterday from rma. It was told to me the x58 platinum has a problem with ram from over at hardocp. When I get the new ram and cpu and it does not fix the problem I will rma for a refund and get the asus board.

that reaper needs more than 1.65 vdimm, eh? that might be the issue right there..

I used all the slots it did not work. I think it was the reaper ram. It required more than the 1.65v. I rma'd the ram along with the cpu. I tried everything to get the system to POST. I changed psu's moved ram from slot to slot, disassembled reassembled 4 times and nothing. The editor over at ocp told me he had problems with ram on that board.Hence the delay in a review for the platinum.

yep, My X58 Platinum can't work with 2x1GB Adata 1600X.
    RAM setup
Due to the memory settings for X58 is kind of different as usual
Attached please find the memory setup directions for reference
The suggestion settings would be A0B0C0A1B1C1 when you have different numbers of memory

If you do not mind what ram are you using now? Newegg is going to issue me a refund on the ram so I can purchase a different type. I am not trying to spend a fortune on ram. What is a good reasonable priced ram for the x58 platinum.

I would get G.Skill 9-9-9-24 for it.. either 1333 or 1600.. (that's what I have on the way) It's got a low vdimm requirement, like 1.5v or 1.6v and I think this board is a little sensitive to ddr3 which needs higher vdimm.

wait you are using 2X1GB of ddr3?? thats why this board wont post m8, you NEED 3X1GB for it to post I'm surprised msi did not catch that but read their online PDF manual it says it right in there.

you don't need 3 dimms to post. I have 2x2gb in mine and it posts. In the manual you are asked to use the 2 closest black slots to the cpu for 2 dimms.
    it's never fast enough!

I now have new (old) mobo MSI platinum, new cpu i7 920 and ram g.skill 1333. I have also added Danger Den water block (as I do not think swiftec is going to release an adapter for my apogee gt)and have it oc'd right now to 4.099 ghz. What a cpu. It does it without breaking a sweat. My temps, from coretemp, are ~38 idle and ~68 load via stress testing by prime95
