They kept the HT link somewhat high, maybe that was why they saw cold boot issues. Guess they haven't been reading at XS...

Did anyone notice Toms claim the Denebs have problems at -70 degrees? IIRC, didn't others run Denebs at -200 Degrees and lower?

Hmm... Legit?AMD Phenom II
In these tables Phenom II 940 3800 OC means its has been overclocked from x15 multiplier to x19.
the temp of the CPU was low (avg. 50) with ZALMAN 9700NT fan.
at last you shhould know that we have Mainboard problems!
the best overclocked figure of this CPU is with SB750 South Birdge but because this CPU do not have bios support from any MainBoard corps,
we could'nt overclock it as maximum as it can support!
But the CPU was stable at 4200MHZ with ZALMAN 9700NT fan, unfortunately we could'nt install any OS with the mainboard Biostar Tforce TA790GX A2
and these benchmark that we attached was taken with M3A32-MVP Deluxe in GameWare Labs
we try to overclock this CPU using Biostar, Jetway, DFI to have SB750 South Bridge but each of them have various problems. (most of them had bios problem)

I like the 35% increase in crysis, 19% increase in Unreal tournament 3 and 39% increase in farcry 2 frame rates but I wonder what settings those were at.
Also wonder how the northbridge speed increase will effect gaming.
Good question, but the thing you still have to take into account is that they used AIR and it POSTED at 4.2Ghz. If the CPU post that high and allows the user to go into the BIOS settings without getting a "Black Screen" means you can expect that dropping it to a 3.8-4Ghz will easily allow the system to install an OS. Which IMO is AWESOME from a stock clocked 3Ghz CPU.
Since I have been overclocking I have noticed one factor. If it post at XGhz then dropping it to 200Mhz slower than XGhz usually gives a stable system.
Yeah, I agree. Some people don't seem to get it. The Eng samples usually have Eng Sample listed in the CPU Z screen shot; however, the retail CPU's DON'T. With the slew of overclocked CPU Z screen shots already posted should give this guy a ball park figure of what to expect from the Deneb retail chips. As it stands he's.....
http://my.ocworkbench.com/bbs/showth...597#post441597AMD Phenom II X4 940 (3GHz) outperforms Intel QX9770 (3.2GHz) in 3Dmark Vantage; lost 9% to core i7
In 3Dmark Vantage, the Phenom II X4 940 (Deneb) running on ASRock AOD790GX/128M with 2GB DDR2-1066 scored P7240. On a core i7 system, the same HD 4850 scored P7766 while on a Intel P45 board ASRock P45XE-WiFiN with QX9770, it scored 7112. Looks like the Phenom II X4 940 (3GHz) is able to outperform the QX9770 in this test whereas Intel Core i7 still outperform the Phenom II X4 3GHz by over 9%.

lo squartatore i dont think that its fake "it may be idk", but if you mean that PhII is not better than a QX9770 that is.
QX9770 may be a very good and expensive monster but as it is i7 920 is cheaper than QX9770 and still outperforms it in every thing. The reason why PhII performs better is that it was suppose to be better clock to clock with Penryn but how good is a quad Penryn vs QX9770 clock to clock in this benchmark???
Also as for the i7 they dont even say which one lets assume they were talking about the 920 that confused me a bit. According to them it scored around P7891 but i was sure that because of the i7's fake cores this score would be more!!!

QFT! that sucks really - I want to show my screen so that everybody can see that they are nubs...I can do half a second better at same speed
additionally - they use LN2 and 1.7V for that?????? jeez' 1.55V and air is all you need for that
exactly!!! (this is an old comment of our greek friend I will never forget... )Originally Posted by hipro5

RELAX!!!! Forget the speculation!! Friday, there should be a slew of trusted reviews out.
