Smile 652MHz+ FSB on P965 Commando

EastKoast Of OC-Lab2 a.k.a. Moonman & tiborrr pushed their Commando P965 board to the FSB limit yesterday night. The result, 652MHz FSB, looks to be one of the highest P965 overclocks ever achieved and which we are very proud of. The NB didn't show any signs of coldbug even at -175°C, it practically doesn't have coldbug at all, but lower than -150°C didn't yield any FSB gain.

    System:
    Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 Q822Axxx
    ASUS Commando P965
    1x1GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC6400 (D9GMH)
    GeForce 6600GT 128MB PCIe
    Hitachi Deskstar 160GB SATA
    BeQuiet 700W PSU

    CPU cooling: sharp's cascade @ -103°C
    NB cooling: LN2 + D.I.Y. tube @ ~ -150°C

sharp's cascade | CPU + NB cooling | the platform | -130°C and going... | Good contact on NB pot

    Validation @ 652.03MHz - http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=452862

    Thank you for reading!

    Kind regards from Slovenia,
    Moonman & tiborrr

    incredible

You mean that anywhere below -150*C didn't yield any performance gain? To get the northbridge to clock that high stable, it required below -150*C?

NB pot is really huge How did you mount it? Did you use coppershim? Nice fsb for old P965 anyway

    Great achievement!
If there's a legendary S775-board out there, it's called "Commando" for sure.

For screen, max fsb with HR-05 was 640 MHz, same with water cooling.

Under -100°C yielded no performance gain, we just wanted to see how much cold it can take.

It's made from E6600 stock cooler
Can take the picture of mounting if you like.

Thanks guys, really it's a pleasure to work with Commando board even if it has a zillion BIOS glitches. In comparison with some P45 boards (Biostar :/) this is heaven

Those results are really impressive, espacially with such low voltage - seems to be all about temperature.

No max. FSB for SPi1M though?

btw: the cut off heatpipe cooling looks nice too

Could not resist, my 4th Commando should ONLY be my 24/7 system, no overclocking.
Incredible stability spi 1m 630 could run again, and again!

And max fsb with dice on northbridge

Still great preformence, from this old lady 3544 X 12.687 = performance 44962.728

Great job Nanok. Well, this was our second Commando board, first one stopped at about 595MHz FSB on aircooling while this one did about 630-635MHz. I guess the cryogenic temperatures really helped gain us those ~ 18-23MHz.

This motherboard is now up for sale, if anyone interested PM me, i can ship internationally.
