    Core i7 - GTX 260 SLi

so i'm totally new to this core i7 overclocking and its totally throwing me off

    http://service.futuremark.com/result...&resultType=14

the core clock was 735 for that picture

anywho, i'm sure i can take this cpu higher.. but before i do so, i would like to know what the maximum voltage i should be running for the qpi is... also, i only had my qpi running 44x instead of 48 for this run.. just because i wasnt sure what was causing me to not be able to boot... and surely through lowing qpi i found that was it

what is a safe voltage for qpi??? and would leaving qpi at 48 give me a better score.. and if so.. how much?

and what kind of score could i expect out of gtx260 sli (1 core 216, the other a 192) with 4.0ghz... though i'm on stock cooler until retarded dtek releases a mounting kit for their block

so i said screw it, cranked up the voltage and pumped some more 3dmarks!

time to see if this mobo can pump 200 bclk and pull me 27k 3dmark06!!!!

i just tried for 4 ghz... but it was a no go on boot... imma need some massive voltage for 200 b.clock

    at least i think....

i'm not sure if its more qpi voltage i need or vcore??

would anyone happen to know the general vcore on 4ghz??? i would apply more if i wasnt on this dreaded piece of stock cooler!!! i think i was at about 1.37 for that run... i should have checked cpu-z

oh.. and validation for my last score

    I have seen most 4GHZ overclocks for the i7 920 @ around 1.4x vcore

awesome... good to know, then i still had some room to apply more voltage

good to know it wasnt the qpi.. i had that to around 1.5v (don't remember what the frequency was... but was at 36x(whatever number it is)

man too many new names and numbers to remember

and system!! this core 216 is clocking quiet nicely.. ihavent tried taking it above 735 core yet... hopefully it can keep up with my 192 and get to 767

imma call it quit until the dtek fuzion 1366 plate comes out... 55c idle scares the living outta me

i'm extremely satisfied with the stock cooling numbers i've achieved!!!

though i'll probably do some more fine tuning and playing with qpi and ram settings to get a better score

i couldnt believe 3.4 ghz to 3.8 brought the cpu score up by nearly 700 points... the scaling is just insane

once dtek gets out a mounting kit i'm hoping to hit 27-28k

OKAY.. hey i7 overclockers.. i need some big time help.. i have tried everything to get 4.0ghz stable into windows.. and it just does not want to work for the life of me...

i've tried 1.4v core in bios.... 1.55v for qpi (qpi set to x36), ram was set to 1600mhz (can't remember divider of the top of my head)

even tried putting uncore to x16 as well

i did not think blck 200 would be this damn hard.. this is just unbelievable... i had cpu pll .1v above standard... clock skew i've tried .50ps NOTHING IS WORKING...

i thought 4.0 was cake walk with 1.4v!!! so wtf is going on here

Try 211x19 or 191x21 (forcing turbo to stay on.) 200x20 seems to be difficult for whatever reason.

nope.. not really.. only can pull 198 base clock.. figured out it was the mobo no the cpu

tried lowering multi big time and still only could do 198 block.. will not boot at 200 no matter how much voltage

if you update you board to an f4* bios and turn turbo on it locks you in at x21 multi and doesnt drop under load. that way you can do 21x190 for 4ghz You could try cpu pll to 1.86, vtt shouldnt need more than 1.45 as well

    man vista kills everything

i know you could score at least 1k higher in 3p

    i managed 19.3k with a qx6850 @ 4.2 ghz and gtx 260 core 192 @ 767/1500/1050 (or something around that area)

i'll probably be ordering a gtx 280 this friday.. so its okay

Indeed it does, but it has it's strong points. You have be some pretty serious card clocks so that had to make up for the extra shaders.

Hope you get a killer clocking 280
