I liked the sc430... yeah i have not driven ferrari's, lambos, or porches... but I thought it was a nice car... its not comparable to most "sports cars" for power/handling wise... but it also has a lot more luxury than they do. Its a lexus... what do you honestly expect? 800hp and roll down windows? I think not.

For a supercar, the Lexus LF-A is unimpressive. My brother in-law had a '07 IS250 and the interior was clean!

"Sporting" cars with automatic transmission is the same as overclocking in windows. Real men drive cars with a clutch pedal and overclock in bios.

Having said that, Lexus make some great cars but totally fails at a manual transmission. I test drove a manual IS250 a while back and shifting the gearbox was like stirring a bucket of rocks with a stick.

It's not specified anywhere but I'm pretty sure the dude in the video is driving the F version. 416hp of goodness. A regular IS350 does 0-60 in about 6sec in the best scenario.

I really like the new c300, I think its much better competition then mercedes older model. I still prefer the 328, I think it's such a perfect car for just about everything. And besides, bmw just makes the best straight 6 engines, and they have the sound that goes with it.... what a sound

The IS350 weighs 1600kg, the 135i 1485kg.... about the weight of a fat passenger difference!

If you want a lightweight car, try a Caterham superlight ; ~500kg IS light.

Nah the atom is a street go kart....you get proper wet in one of those. The caterhams look great and go like stink....but then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

PS I never called the STi a toilet, I think it's quite nice. I was just saying it's funny seeing someone call the IS350 bloated and heavy and then praising the 135 which is barely any lighter.

I think the 335 is a better car in every aspect compared to the 135, if it were a discussion on those two, I would say to spend the extra.. what is it? 2 grand and get the 335

yea I think 2 grand was a little to small of a guess.. regardless the 135 is way over priced.. the 335 is pushing it too in my opinion, but its much better value then the 135

UPDATE: Sorry for bringing the old thread back. A few weeks ago I have decided to do my own runs on my IS350. Here are my runs. First, here's the spec...


2008 Lexus IS350
- Sport Package
- Mileage: 448x miles
- Completely stock, no aftermarket intake or exhaust, stock wheels and tires.
- No weight reduction: all trunk items are intact.
- 1/8 tank of gas.

I wanted to get the best out of a stock vehicle. And I must say, I'm impressed with the IS350's potential. After some practice, I got 4.7 seconds, reported by my g-meter.



my bud juice14 has currently the record of 4.52 sec 0-60 in his lightly modded IS350. His is a luxury package, and has intake and exhaust, aftermarket wheels and some good sticky tires.


I am pretty damn happy with my result. My previous best was 4.9 sec. One of the other runs had a very strong launch but tires spun in the 2nd gear..and got me 5.2 sec. The launching is a tough task. Automatic car doesn't mean it's easy. I actually find it more tricky than the manual tranny cars I've owned in the past.

the IS series are nice cars, i love the lexus interiors tbh. my gs300 has 150k and the only problem right now is i need to find a tranny that doesnt slip (im thinking i can get one from a junkyard for a few hundred with less than 50k miles), and the fuel injectors make clicking noises. i know, runs like a champ tho.(minus the tranny taking forever to find a low gear and leaving me hanging at 4k rpm for 3-4 seconds before moving at a decent rate).

i've seen quite a few is350's around my area, and i wish i could have one they are beautiful cars.

trance, sorry to hear about the problems with your GS300. I'm afraid I'm no help to you as I don't know much about repairing cars.. Yea the IS350's have beautiful design. I wanted to get one when I owned an '06 Acura TL. I regretted getting the TL (due to quality and mechanical issues) and got me the IS later on. Maybe you should try looking on the '06 model.

I love the interior too, especially my two-tone interior. The leather is very nice. I clean and condition them with my Lexol about twice a month.

meh, it's just the tranny has 150k on it, lexus wants like 5k to replace and install, which i told the guy, literally i told him this.

"when you guys come down off your high chair and want to charge 2k for a 1500 dollar transmission rather than the 4k your asking, gimme a call, other wise, suck my left n**" and hung up on him. i see no reason why a company should be able to make over 100% profit on something nobody else does. and the core exchange he said was 400 bucks rofl. and to charge 1k for install -.- owning a lexus, awesome, fixing a lexus, awesome if your a mechanic, bank robbery if you've never touched a wrench in your life.

the only thing i hate about lexus, is their parts department, they are the most unhelpful people ever. go in, do you guys have this part? if it came on the vehicle stock, then we probably do..... the guys know nothing of cars. they told me i couldnt order individual pieces of the wiring harness and such, which i promptly went to the toyo site, found a few 50 page pdf files with nothing but wiring harness male and female connectors, and ordered em from the toyota dealership. i find myself going there more often than the lexus place due to convenience and a more down to earth atmosphere. i dont need a mint when im waiting to talk to a service advisor.

that's why i liked my ford dealer so much, the people there actually knew something, and could relate to you. but no biggie, i can probably drop and replace the thing in a matter of hours, i just gotta get my cc paid off and then go get the tranny.

i would look into getting another car, but im in college and make like 30k/yr. i only drive my lexus (it's a 99) because my mustang got totalled, and my parents sold it to me for the insurance monies.
