    YouTube Goes Widescreen!

    I'm sure many of you have noticed. Would like to see some widescreen content. It'll be nice when HD hand-held cameras saturate the market. I bet we'll see some nice quality videos, even with the compression.

    For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.

    about damn time. it's just sad how video quality is raped on youtube.

    on the other hand, videos within flash framing of current flash versions will never be as good as watching "native" videos. especially the tearing of flash videos is annoying (most likely only visible while watching videos in fullscreen)

    yeah, me too.

    dunno if you've ever heard about vreel.net, but it's something like stage6 and did look good so far. even though it's still in closed beta stage and i'm not aware of it's current state of development.

    Seems like the added &fmt=22 at the end of the link is a new mode like &fmt=18 was introduced some time ago which allowed so much higher quality (both sound and video) for _any_ video on youtube (just try adding that to the link of some video and see for yourself, especially great when wanting to listen to good quality sound for music vids and alike), which sometimes you also see a "watch in high quality" link below the vid window but sometimes not and you can still add &fmt=18 at the end of the videos if it doesn't show that link and it works. Default quality mode is poor but since they introduced &fmt=18 quality got higher than most sites and now it seems &fmt=22 is meant for HD quality for even greater quality which of course won't work unless the video is encoded & uploaded as HD quality too.

    Another good thing for the HD-viewers world. No doubt it's good for many of us. Great also for gameplay uploaders using WS res., you know, gameplay vids. Not just that anyway.

    Finally, it looks good... I hope all old videos aren't stretched out.

    The first link was really good quality. '1080p' though is a bit unnecessary as of course there is no way the video is even close to that on YouTube. Had to be a furry video.

    due to me being spoiled by stage6's 1080p videos this linked video is the least i would want a HD clip to look like.

    nonetheless, the flash is still tearing, which totally kills joy to watch it in fullscreen. even though i have to say that this video is so slow that one hardly notices any tearing

    btw: if you guys got a youtube profile, go to your account settings and choose to watch always the high quality version of a video. then fmt=18 or fmt=22 are applied automatically.

    YousableTubeFix automatically switched the video to 18. 22 is indeed much better. Ok, another script to modify...

    Use the following Stylish script or play the movies in full screen mode.

    Code:
    @namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);
    @-moz-document domain("youtube.com") {

    /* Adjust movie width and height here.. */
    #movie_player {width: 875px !important; height: 690px !important;}

    /* Padding for other vids because of larger movie width and height.. */
    #watch-other-vids {padding-top: 700px !important;}

    /* Remove Active Sharing, Ad above the watched video, footer, copyright notice, Purple block and ad at mainpage.. */
    #active_sharing_div,#leaderboardAd,#footer,#copyright,.homepage-content-block,#watch-channel-brand-div{display: none !important;}

    I think A.) an HD source and B.) he used a very good codec to compress the video himself before sending it to YouTube, so that it wouldn't have to be compressed by YouTube.

    I have no tearing at all on any videos, even in full screen. Sounds like a problem with your display settings.
