Since the 35/1.8G is a DX format lens, what about selling off the D300s and "down"-upgrading to D7000? You lose some flexibility, and then gain some in other areas. The D7000 has better image quality, too.

The super-expensive D4 is still 16MP, with absolutely insane ISO performance, flexibility and speed, but unless you are shooting with your 70-300mm at high f-stop in low light while bursting a hundred wasteful shots I really doubt the DX sensor will be an issue for you. The sensor in NEX-5N, A580, A55, D5100/7000 etc. is IMO the best APS-C sensor under 20MP right now with the NEX-7's being the best above.

5DMK2 for street, hem.. well, not sure any dSLR is suitable for street shooting. They tend to be kinda big and visible. From pure performance POV its possible, as high ISO is ok on 5DMK2. Tho low light AF isnt..
Sports with 5DMK2, well if you are willing to buy 70-200mm f2.8 (I would prefer version with IS), then its kinda possible. Just remember that it has just one usable AF point which is that one in center. Focus tracking and such are not much usable. It was never designed as sport camera..
Portrait, well, when paired with longer fast lens, sure, full-frame is perfect for this.
Not sure this would be upgrade for you. I would rather get used D700 if I were you. Size difference will be minimal (its same as D300), you get much better high ISO and in same time full-frame. If you pair it with battery grip it gets pretty fast FPS (8 FPS with BG and better battery). Plus build quality is really something else than 5DMK2.
Ofc unless you need to have 21 mpix, but IMHO, if you dont print larger than A3, you dont need them. Usually is better to have 12 mpix and high quality lens, than 21 mpix and crappy lens.

They are able to support while not firing and apply force against recoil while firing. Get's tiring pretty quick though.

Fun with long exposures and changing focal lengths
And something a bit more serious. Any feedback on this one is much appreciated
The first thing i thought looking at the second picture was it's like a burning fire.
