I am just learning this post processing stuff and through a little of everything at the lock as it was just a plain 200 year old lock...

    That's cool!
What you or I like will not be what the next person will like. That is part of what makes photography interesting imo.

A little out of focus because they're running and dancing, but I really like the look.

This is how they do weddings in the french quarter, New Orleans style, looks very fun.

Hey guys I am still lurking around the forum these days, I am spending way more time behind the trigger (shooting in gun matches) than I am the D5000 these days but I did catch Lightroom 3 on sale so I have been spending 90% of my photography time trying to teach myself how to edit photos the correct way, I have found that I have zero skill with a real editing program but I am learning a little at a time and so far I am having fun.

Hers is a quick shot I snapped today.

We go there a lot because my wifes family is from there, so its a cheap trip for us, no hotels necessary ; )

If youre going to go, go during the last week of Mardi Gras, good times will be had by all.

Polarization or graduated ND filters can solve this problem. Or RAW and some post-processing..

    Thanks for the comments guys.

The shot was taken in RAW and I did play around with the color a bit to try and get the sky and water the same color but in the end I reset the photo and just bumped contrast, blacks, clarity and removed an orange hue (it was taken just as the sun was setting), my goal is to stop over processing and try to get the most natural photos I can. Granted I will still play around but I have a hard enough time getting shots to look natural let alone artsy lol.

    Very nice shot Tarowah!
I've only just started using photoshop CS5. What does lightroom offer over photoshop?

anyone still using Sony ? like the new A65 or A77 ?
had been doing som reading about them as of late, interesting piece of gear but not sure its something i would ever buy.
maybe a weekend rental with the 35mm and 50mm primes.

i know Elisha used to be all over Sony until he got the 7D and then flipped to canon. - speaking of which havent seen him for many many months, atleast a year.
