took this, this morning from the 'ol back deck.
if i went with any slower/faster shutter speed the moon was really blown out, or the sky was too bright/dark. i lost the colors int he sky.
    this one is ok.
i used the '300' Canon Custom Style.

damn ridney, that is NICE! i like the depth, and colors. (the tree looks rusty)
a little heavy on the full frontal lighting, its causing her shadow to be cast too heavily behind her.
but with a tree just inches from her it would be next to impossible to get the shadow to go away without CS5 content aware fill.

did you setup umbrellas and strobes?

i did not save an original copy of the moon shot on my NAS, i will grab it from the card and redo it and save a copy and post it.

It's easy, I've figured out a way to do this.

Click share this, click "grab the HTML", then pick your size. And then inside the HTML code, find the link that's something like "http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4135/4797959105_560cca62dd.jpg", copy then paste.

thanks Lestat, i agree with the shadows on the tree, allowing the subject a little bit away from the tree would have prevented it. i was more concerned balancing ambient light with flash during those hours as i'm not using a light meter. i'm not sure if i was doing it correctly like if the background was too underexposed, balancing the ambient light is quite tricky and is a new field for me to discover especially during mid-day where ambient light is too variable.

yes, i used an umbrella to reflect light from my Nissin Di866 (speedlight), i didn't use my strobe as it's too powerful for the situation and i was looking for a larger aperture to put the background out of focus.

wow, that's kinda dangerous and exhausting hike you had 1avatar, but i bet the scenery is quite amazing and all that exhaustion just goes all away

nice shot sam_oslo, aligning the horizon would be best though.

here's one i did today at around 2pm, i started on the shade as the sun is just directly above us and it's really hot and humid. i think the strobe is too hot but i kinda like it though
