If you need it, it's a fantastic lens. You can check out my macro shots on my flickr page if you want (look at the recent ones)

Anyways, this is how I've been getting around in Colorado. I've taken a ton of shots with my Hasselblad 201F, can't wait to get the rolls developed.

without question it is a beautiful lens... just didn't need a macro as i thought i would. my coworker somewhat regrets getting it too as he thought he would love having a macro... and rarely uses it.
well i thought i didnt have any use for a telephoto and i had a great time this tuesday with it.

so maybe i could have a nice time with the 60mm macro i love to take pics of flowers so that is why i want one

spaz, have you ever looked at perspective correction programs? I like your subject but I personally think it would be improved if you ran it through a program like ShiftN.

Here's what ShiftN did to your picture:

As you can see, the program skewed your image and removed part of your signature and border. If you wish I'll remove it straight away, I just thought I'd show you what it does.

The parameter are normally posted alongside the EXIF on Flickr however looks like none from LR 2.6 or 3 Beta are there.
I normally have something in mind and the try every preset I have to see what is the closest and tweak the sliders from there.
I've sent a couple of people here all my presets for LR so if anyone wants them please give me your email address and I'll send them to you guys.
All my shots are RAW so I have much more control of the way I want my pictures to look.

I would say that those 18mpix + very sharp lens have something to do with that too. 7D has real high resolution. Output seems even better than from 5DMK2.

Plus, as its obvious.. Elisha is skilled photographer.

This is true...but, Elisha's pics rocked with the A700 as well. He's got a great eye, great PP skills, as well as great HW.

A sort of lame-o pic, i guess... but it combined 2 of my favorite pastimes(i should have thrown some ram + a CPU on the board also. ). The lighting is crappy this was in a limited space...

I've only got hand me down 35mm stuff to shoot with, but I doubt the camera has too much to do with the quality of the shot, especially since it's been resized for posting here. There may be some work done on it in Light Room, but quality photographs come from the skill and eye of the shooter. Using good equipment may make some things easier, and knowing how to manipulate the final product is essential to get the most out of the photo, but at the end of the day it's the photographers vision that determines whether or not they get good shots. I bet Elisha could have taken a similar photo with a D40 or similar quality SLR, the 7D probably just makes things easier.

Lol I'm just an average photographer with above average LR skills. I miss more moments than I capture.
As I have mentioned before I only got the 7D for the video but I like the new gadgets in it as well.
I had better lenses for the Sony.
But I'll get there eventually with the Canon.

For most of my Abandoned building shots, I had my tripod with me and could have used a lower ISO for cleaner images but I decided that it needed grain and that is why there are many ISO 3200 shots. Plus when you are trespassing, it's not like you can take your time with 20 second exposures.

there is some truth to that statement but because you are using 35mm stuff where you could buy a $50 camera and get the exact same results as a $500 camera, your analogy doesnt hold true for digital imaging.
film mattered only in glass and decent film, but even then alot of film was just film, it came down to the glass and the persons abilities.

the fact is with digital cameras the camera itself plays a HUGE role in imagine quality, not granted, if you have a nice Canon lens, a NICE one mind you and put it onto a rebel Xt and a 7D you can get pretty good results out of the 7D, but that 7D is a freaking monster.. its just pure image beauty.
now, take the same cameras with a crappy lens and you get crap but the 7D will look better.

in the end 2 things matter more than anything, the Glass and the person.

if you take the time, and no one expects you to hit each page, you will notice Elisha's shots are all taken with quality camers but there is skill there too and some fantastic post processing.

i know you are not taking anything away from their skills, but saying a digital camera isnt THAT important is silly.
