I also love the (for me exotic) bird shots with those flowers/trees. Nothing similar around here, but I will go hiking later this week, no idea what I will find in the woods if anything at all, hehe

Past weekend of June 20-22, Las Vegas, NV.
It was the weekend of the Las Vegas Electric Daisy Carnival and people were dressing up for the theme.
This was taken from the top level balcony bar of the Twin Peaks restaurant on the main strip between Planet Hollywood and Bally's.
Despite being taken from my iPhone 5s, the picture seemed to perfectly capture the spirit of Red-blooded America, Summer, Vegas, Youth, and Service with a Smile

I caught this guy from my back yard this morning, singing to his mates from one of the huge pines next door
Is it just me or am I right in saying the new (as of yesterday) flickr web page layout sucks HARD, why the farrk cant they offer new/old instead of just changing without warning/input

^ We're in the same boat. Hookie even got the layout change few days ahead of us. Has to do with the area I think.
I checked flickr after reading your post and its showing in the latest layout now(yesterday it wasn't yet). I like the black layout, so is the one before it; I dunno of the latest, seems meh, but no choice.
What I really hate most though is yes the lack of warning/announcement, or even the option to revert back maybe, is that too much to ask?

Good thing I am not using Flickr. But after they removed Google login is a good enough reason for me not to use it at all. I keep on experimenting with my wide angle lens. Need a lot more practise, it is by far the hardest lens to use from the ones I have.

I really like that Fr3ak; for some reason it throws off my equilibrium...not sure I've had such a visceral reaction like that to a photo before. Kudos!
My first attempt with a real flash, experimenting with off-camera use of a YN-500EX. C&C welcome.

I like the subject matter there Hoki, but I feel like the flash is either too harsh or not harsh enough. What I mean by that is if you squat down and lower the angle of the pic the harsh light would (in my mind) work better while if you keep the angle you have now and diffuse the flash then you'll (again in my mind) have a more pleasant picture.
Edit:
What intel chip is that btw? :p

This is my first time posting to the pictures thread.
Hope the image size is OK.
If not, let me know what to adjust.

I recently read a wide angle 'how to' by Ken Rockwell, needless to say....I'll wait until I know a little/lot more re what I doing before I even consider buying an ultra wide
I think I'll start looking for a more consistent/better site to post my pics in the near future
I finally got around to playing with high shutter speeds, next time I'll try setting the iso a little higher as most of the shots were under exposed, though thats much better than being over exposed

Thanks for the critique, that helps! I've ordered a Lumiquest Mini Softbox for better flash control. Right now it's either pointed at the ceiling or direct. With that I think I'll be able to get better results.
It's a dead-as-a-doornail 2600K. Got it for review and thanks to a quirky ASRock beta BIOS I ended up putting what I figure is ~2.3V through it. On water.

Nice shot alphaOne! I agree it totaly bites the new layout. I had to renew my Pro account and went to check on the 26th as that is when the auto renewal was and I had a totally different look. I thought maybe my account had not gone through and they had put me back to free but no it is just a crappy look and layout!

I like it!
I like the silhouette of the 3 men standing in the bottom left corner of the frame and I like the magenta and blue in the middle of the firework that are popping out. Maybe the sky could be a bit more dark for a better separation between foreground and firework but overall a great shot imho!

I almost want to ask someone to buy it for me and post it across the Atlantic pond, pricing here is $1400 for the camera, $180 for LR5 and $750 for the printer. That's $2330 worth of goods for $900
Anyway, regarding battery grips. I picked one up from Ebay for $28 including postage from HK to SA and I can't go back. I feel the camera is much more ergonomic to hold, as my little finger now wraps around the grip in line with my other three fingers instead of sitting under the camera. Portrait shots are also a LOT more comfortable. Of course, the advantage of having a second battery is probably the best part
Anyway, moving on...

This is SOOC other than bringing the blacks down and pushing up the white balance a little - as extreme as the colouring may look, it's exactly what the evening looked like. It was really breathtaking.
