I like the silhouette of the 3 men standing in the bottom left corner of the frame and I like the magenta and blue in the middle of the firework that are popping out. Maybe the sky could be a bit more dark for a better separation between foreground and firework but overall a great shot imho!

    *snip*

edit: are the fireworks been fired from a boat?
    How's this one?

And yes. They are being fired from a boat (which caught fire later on in the night :p)

Darakian, I like it but it looks...artificial? (for lack of a better word). It looks like a stacked image from the three trails on the left, rather than a long exposure. It's a nice looking photo though, don't get me wrong. Just trying to lend a little C&C since you asked.

I managed to PP a couple photos from this weekend. Here is the Jefferson Memorial at the golden hour.

    70D, EF-S 18-135 IS @ 113mm, f/5.6, 1/130 sec, ISO 100

As for the rest, please be gentle, this is my first attempt at fireworks and they were hand-held. I'm as wide as I can get to try and grab some reflection, so please forgive the foreground trees (though I think they actually add to the shots).

    70D, EF-S 18-135 IS @ 18mm, f/3.5, 1/10 sec, ISO 640 (yes, that's 1/10, hand-held. )

Last, but not least, a shot to show our full view during the fireworks, between the MLK, Jr. memorial and the FDR memorial on the tidal basin. We couldn't have asked for a better spot.

    70D, EF-S 18-135 IS @ 18mm, f/3.5, 1/10 sec, ISO 1000

Maybe I over cooked that one. It's a single shot, but it does have a decent amount of processing. I like the branches as well in your pics. It adds a frame to them, but the hand holding is doing you no favors. You gotta use a tripod for fireworks :p

My daughter was out looking for Monarch Caterpillar/Butterfly eggs when she saw this guy sitting on a leaf.
I was fortunate enough to actually see him catch a fly going by.

Awesome pics altogether! NeO, that is a beautiful landscape, wow

I didn't get around much since I am in Germany, so not many new pictures from my side. I grew up in this area, so everything looks way too familiar with the result of me not having a clue on what to capture >_<

    Great shot Oj101!

Cheap extension tubes came in! I don't do much macro, but now at least I can have some fun with it when the mood strikes.

    So close...no crop!

Thanks! I had to use a 0.3s exposure time as I was hand holding the flash and firing it by pressing its test button

That is one of two I quite liked, I'll edit the other tonight. It's amazing how a small, crowded lounge can become a studio without even the need for a backdrop just by shooting in the dark.

Love that last shot alpha, wonderful symmetry.

Broke out the extension tubes tonight for a few minutes of fun. Tubes plus external flash = good times.

    ^ Thanks hoki

I haven't really played with my tubes yet, the only lens I really tried is my 17-50 f2.8 as yet but I might see what happens when I use with one of my 70-300 lens ...........................yes, I bought another one, I can't help myself sometimes..............or maybe its because I've become so used to only having enough $ in the kitty to buy 2 minute noodles

Been playing with Photomatix, soooo much to learn
