I like your pics Fr3ak but everything looks so... desolate. Is that really Shenzhen? Also it kinda looks like you cranked the HDR up to high :p

The pictures are from Zhongshan, a city next to Shenzhen, but where I lived in Shenzhen was not too different. There are a lot of people here, but nothing is being maintained and poorly constructed in the first place. The humid climate also pays its toll, which is why everything is disintegrating very quickly.

Personally, I like over-saturated pictures, that look similar to paintings, depending on the scene. I posted many of them here I have to admit, so here is something different:

    Love the tricycle shot

My brother spent a week in China last year on business and said he could not even see across the street

Re your linked article, the biggest worry is water pollution, that's why I wont buy ANY foodstuffs from China but with the lax (read practically non existent) laws regarding branding of foodstuffs in AU its a lottery as to the origins of the food you buy

Maybe the Chinese gubmint are making up for no pollution until recently compared to the west, which started with the industrial revolution

Those tricycles are all over the place. I love how it is quite a traditional bike, but most of them are fitted with electro or combustion engines. Here is another one:

Love your photos Fr3ak; they do have the desolate quality as mentioned, but your processing adds even more depth to it. Very lovely series you have going here.

Here are a couple more flower shots.

This next one I wish I had stopped down to f/8.0 so the whole flower was in focus. Live & learn.

Thanks! Believe it or not, it was the on-camera flash. It's definitely better than the weaker (and shorter) flash on the Rebels. I still need to get a decent real flash. When summer (and my birthday) rolls around, I'm going to ask for a YN-500EX from my wife. It has HSS, which I need for daytime fill flash and TTL, because I'm a flash n00b.

Here are the last two in the flower series:

That is a beautiful landscape! Must have smelled really nice too.

I found a playground on my way to work, but it started raining, unfortunately.

    Today I visited:

    http://www.acquariodigenova.it/en/

I already visited it a lot of times, but it was an excuse to test out my new 85mm + D7100 combo and I must say that I am really impressed.

Lens is really sharp even fully open and man, coming from a D3100 I must say that the D7100 is a super big jump in terms of low noise at high isos.

NeO, I totally love your shark pic! Too bad, my exif plug-in doesn't work for Flickr. I am sure it was quite dark in there. What settings did you use?

    Canon 600D + Canon 50mm f/1.8, 1/200s, f/16, ISO 100, flash on

Not much post processing was done on this other than setting the black/white points and cropping, the reds were really this rich.

    Thanks Fr3ak!

Yeah it was really dark and I was shooting behind this thick aquarium glass that added a lot of distortion, color fringing and all those bad stuff. Then this dude passed by to take a look and I was there to take the shot, I'm pretty happy with it

    Exif data are as follow:

    85mm
    1/200
    f/1.8
    2500 ISO

    p.s. excellent B/W!

Here are a couple more. Since none of the birds were flying around (at least remotely within my 135mm range), I had to catch them doing their thing in the water. This goose had the most intense eyes, so I took a close-in portrait.

White Goose by hokiealumnus, on Flickr

A lady mallard jumped up on the bridge railing right next to me; she was quite curious. So I got a shot of her being curious, then a close-in portrait of her as well.

    Nice pics once again.

@Fr3ak I like your desolate photos, its haunting and made me think no one must've been living in the area, also kinda reminds me of a picture from Chernobyl.
@Neo Nice touch on the color and tones on your Composition photo. I can imagine what it looks like with a bit of sun's ray through the windows .
@hokiealumnus No pop-up diffuser? Nice. I thought 70D's pop-up flash is just the same as on my Rebel XS. I'm noob w/ flash too but hey, I've used 70D's pop-up flash to trigger my Yongnou.
