interesting results, how acurate is the source?
n/m I see the link
My PC is built for gaming and I think I will probably skip this round and hang onto my Q6600@3.4ghz as it seems to be more than enough for todays games.
Haha, knew it.
Don't know how good this source is, but whatever, all the more reason to be happy that I planned to skip i7 .

games are GPU bound, not cpu bound, no matter what everyone else tells us.
I use a computer more than for gaming or else I would get a consol.
The new tech, is for me.
Old tech as yorkfield, penryn and what most will use in weeks to come is just archelogical stuff.
Seems amd also gets to trow in a new commercial, let us show you what amd/ati can do for you framerates!
ati 4870x2 dual, against Intel, what built in oem graphics?
If I was hired for amd, I run that campain, no use for super power cpu, mhz does not matter for your games, look at us, we give you this with our solution.
A few thousand procent difference in fps, should make a difference in what people bought?
amd/ati can offer a great solution, cpu isnt the only solution for your gaming.
a great videocard makes a whole enchilada of difference

Agreed, The gpu is the bottleneck here for sure. Add 1 or 2 more cards to each and you'll see the i7 rise to the top.

The obvious flaw in that review from [H] is that how many people who go there or come here are running a QX9770 or an E8500 at stock? They overclocked their i7 there to 3.8 Ghz, and thats as far as they could go. So put that up against the overclocked E8500 at 4.0Ghz at least, up to the limit of their chip, which is probably higher then 4.0Ghz by far and give us some farcry benches. That's what I would like to have seen.

That's why I barely read review sites anymore. It seems like most sites think they have pulled off this massive review running a stock cpu. It gets even better when they are testing new VGA's in xfire/SLI setups
The best I've seen so far is comparing SLI/Tri-SLI with Core i7 965 EE on an X58 vs. a E8400 @ stock running a 680i Granted we all know nahelem scales way better with multiple cards, but I think guru3d gets the epic fail award for that one They could have atleast run a 790i with some nice DDR3 along with overclocking the wolfdale, or they could have just thrown in a QX9770 for "all things equal".
Maybe these sites should start hanging around their own forums and doing the reviews gamers want. O/C the piss out of the CPU and let her rip
