06? Aren't the new High Quads this year? First thing that comes to mind is Q9950 2.83Ghz. The Q9850 is 3.6Ghz is quite a Mhz boost. Do you have the chip or did you just find the pic?

If I had the chip I wouldn't be asking now would I? I got the pic from techpowerup, they are puzzled too, so I thought of asking here...

    Not always.

I suspect this is a fake. Considering that they don't even have an EX chip that high. AND the disparity b/t it and the Q9650. I would think that it would be 3.33ghz, following the typical clock speed/naming system.

Look at the bottom half of the 8 in 9850; it's smaller than the top half of the 8, in other words not proportional. Looks like it could have been tampered with? And why would a 9850 model be 3.60GHz, when the increase from 9450->9550->9650 is only half a multiplier, 8->8,5->9?

Isn't Tesla meant to be a CUDA crunching machine, not a GPU?

    yeah i know
i did mention the fact it's a Tesla card

it was funny during last Nvidia editors day when they launched these cards (GTX280s) and CEO made a smartass remark to his team about falling just short of 1 TLOP cards hehehe

and then someone jumped in and said ...... WEEEEEELLL Tesla cards are 1 TFLOP cards

its right there ;> no display outputs, they probably use a quadro or the likes as a master.

edit: err since they emulate cpu functionality that would be the case.

that chip has to be a fake. first of all, 3.6ghz is way too high for a quad at stock speed. there's no way a quad will have a higher clock than the fastest dual core. second, they wouldn't put efforts to produce another quad when core i7 currently only has 3 choices
