Looking good bentleya! Keep going, you'll get there. There's a lot to learn in Kerkythea and it does take time trying different settings. How about adding some texture to your background?

bentleya, i see you're going for the studio lighting setup. When i saw your shots, it instantly reminded me of this tutorial
http://www.cgarena.com/freestuff/tut...tudiolighting/
maybe do a search on google for 'studio lighting tutorials' or look for tutorials from other applications like 'vray'
Could be useful.
This is an excellent lighting tutorial. I'm glad I managed to dig it out.
http://www.itchy-animation.co.uk/light.htm
These are quite old but maybe useful as well.

wahoo thanks for them i'll be doing a lot of reading
do you guys load the .prt files into the rendering program and then edit the textures? I think I would like to work on rendering my recent waterblock designs for you all

Awesome Mick!
Me like shiny things...
I'm using Google SketchUp also, then exporting to Kerkythea with the Kerkythea plug-in. I've downloaded most of the textures available on the Kerkythea website which I then modify with the texture editor, if I feel it is necessary...
Thanks twwen2!

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I use Solidworks 8 and UGS NX5 for my modeling because my university gives them to me and they are much better than sketchup ^^
Some of these look almost real!
Isn't anyone else going to join the dream factory?
