    Advice on PSU

    Hey people,

I'll be buying a new PSU in a few days probably, and would like to have some advice about that. I own a Seasonic S12+ 550w PSU for now. I plan on buying a new video card soon, that may require more power than my actual overclocked 8800GTX.

    Here's what I have:
    - INTEL Xeon X3350 (same as Q9450) @3.4GHz
    - ASUS Rampage Formula
    - 2x OCZ 2GB DDR2 sticks
    - eVGA 8800GTX KO ACS³ (factory overclocked)
    - 3x WD SATA harddrives
    - CREATIVE X-Fi Titanium Fatality
    - ASUS DVD Reader
    - PLEXTOR DVD burner
    - 4x 120mm fans

And here's what will be upgraded:
    - I'll add a CoolIT Freezone Elite (Water+TEC cooler kit)
    - a new graphics card (probably a GTX280 or a GTX290 if it ever comes out)

I want the new PSU to be ready for an upgrade to Core i7 in a the next few months, and I want it to be modular.

Any advice on which brand and model?

    Thanks

You current PSU is sufficient, but since you want mudular and future proof a bit, I recomment Corsair 620HX.

Modular, quiet, efficient, affordable and did very very well in every review. Great output quality for 620W at 50c sustained

The Corsair 620W is definitely a good choice. Another worthy contender I'd say would be the Antec TPQ-850W.

    Core i5 2500K @ 4.8GHz 1.31v [L041C123] | Gigabyte P67-UD3P-B3 | Corsair H60 | 4GB G.Skill Ripjaws X DDR3-1866 8-9-8-24-1T | Samsung F3 1TB |
    ASUS GTX 670 2GB| PCP&C Silencer 500W | Antec Three Hundred "Blacked Out" | Dell Ultrasharp 23" U2311H IPS 1920x1080

If it fits in budget go for Antec Signature.
If it ain't broke... fix it until it is.

    Thanks people!

Unfortunately, the ANTEC Signature series aren't easy to find around here, dunno why.

The CORSAIR HX620 modular seems to be a good choice.
However, I'm concerned about two things:
    - does it have 8-pin *and* 6-pin PCI-Express connectors (for my future GTX2x0 videocard)
    - is it powerful enough to handle my rig, including the CoolIT Water+TEC cooler?

    2 x 6+2 PCI-E connectors.
It has 50A on 12V, so it's look like it can handle with easy your config.
If it ain't broke... fix it until it is.
