    Dayum!

Each time I've added more to try and scratch up some pie the Pie Gods is like:

Get pie. Lose pie. Blinked and I missed it. This is a tough crowd! I will gladly give up pie though to get all those points for the cause!

    Thank you all.
As they were doing an extended outage for reworking their network, i bumped the cache and did the same
I just took a little longer (like 6 days), and still isn't finished, still some network cables loose on the floor
Already waiting for a 3770k for a media server and to join the others on WCG.

Ah the ever long chase for some pie. Its one of those twinkles that just gets further away the closer you get to it. I'm only 15k away from pie...but I'm already maxed out except for two Arima boards.

I replaced my CMOS batteries and neither board will light up. I am suspecting the one spare power supply I have may be bad...

I'm at 68 cores now, 26 at home (and spinning the power meter so fast it whistles!) and 42 in the cloud. If I was running Windows (and specifically Silverlight) I could add another core free with the Microsoft Azure cloud. Short of another region going live in the HP cloud before the beta finishes I'm tapped out. If it DOES go live then I get another 20 cores ... and I expect someone else on XS will manage to borg the Jaguar system in case there's a chance I could get a whiff of pie.

Shyte a brick! I even made it into the top 100 at WCG yesterday (98th spot, but still) ... but since it seems most of the rest are all here at XS

Might as well tell me to go buy that Kraken. Hardware here in Auz is far more expensive than over there and frankly I don't have the funds to shell out nine grand for three cutting edge desktop systems, never mind the network server. All donations of cash and recent hardware gratefully accepted.

Yeah it's a very tough crowd Dark Angel!!! I guess you could always bump your WU cache and pull the plug, then enjoy your pie when all that work comes in

I have over 100 cores/threads... It's insane. But hardware has been my hobby and bread and butter for 20 years. So while I can afford the electricity, I'll keep it up. Right now I'm developing plans to offset my power with solar and possibly one wind turbine, but I don't think my wife will allow a turbine on the property....... more on that way later!

It's worth looking into different types of wind turbines. The big propeller on a stick is only one sort, and probably not the best for a home user application. Vertical axis units and loop-bladed ones are worth a look for efficiency, size reduction and less operating noise, plus they're low enough to not get birds stuck to them like the tall ones.

edit: WTF- i posted this and i am still on page146 with 147,148 button visible/available to click.
    Bahhh- forget that.

    Good one D_A.
But i just keep telling myself this all the time, in all walks of life and applies here to-
All those who crunch are winners. Some may get slices for their contribution but there are also those who contribute to get the crumbs, to make it 100%.

    Just view the last page

It's a forum error because this thread has too much awesome sauce on the pie.

Dark Angel thanks for the information. If I can get some kind of ok then I would like to build a DIY project wind turbine. That is going to be a while down the road unfortunately, all my extra money is tied up in my WCG farm ATM.
