mine has just arrived and after holding it I can safely say I will never try to mount it vertically. I will just keep it for a future bench style setup.

fishing lines might do the trick but I wouldn't dream of trying it without some sort of additional support.

howabout tie them to the mobo side wall of the case, that way the tension pulls up and presses the block to the cpu.

hmmm it would be clever if you could attach the bottem mounts THROUGH the mobo into the case. That way the case will be holding up/supporting it, you'll then have to find a way to press the cpu into the heatsink.

maybe bolt the thing through to the case and then have screws which lower the heatsink into the cpu nice and tight.

    now that would be clever.

ive got mine today and made some fast test compared to my 24/7 water setup

    TRUE Copper + big 120mm Delta fan @ 5v below 2000rpm

    Watercooling
    (D-Tek Fuzion + Black Ice GTX 240 + X2O pump + 2*120mm 1500rpm AC fan)

    my conclusion

no need to say anything, TRUE Copper beats my small water setup, costs ~ almost the same, but i think it worth every penny

Briilliant thread- i am loving it.
Especially the 120x76mm monsters on the side of the TRUECu- i think the latter looks a bit intimidated and scared.
    I don't have a pc coz i don't know how to OC

    Is there any review already?
Im really interested on Anandtech to include it in their heatsink reviews, but would like some pre-testing for now...

I'd definitely figure out a way to use some steel wire or even fabricate a metal bracket that can be secured to an upper part of my case to prevent it from warping the crap out of my motherboard. Heck, i'm even worried about my standard TRUE bending my motherboard and it only weighs a fraction of this monster.

I'll be done with the first major round of data tonight-ish....if I can graph it all quickly I'll post a new thread. Already shown a prelim graph to one person, so it's not that far fetched I suppose....the graphs are more intense than any of my fan reviews, IMO.

Tomorrow is a travel day for me, small planes though, so won't be able to work on it on a plane.

    Probably up tomorrow night

Then next week I have a second round against something really cool

EDIT: Round 1 = TRUECu (unlapped, amateur lapped, mirror lapped + hi-pressure mounting) vs. TRUE (amateur lapped and mirror lapped + hi-pressure mounting + significant base removal) vs. IFX-14 (unlapped, amateur lapped, mirror lapped + hi-pressure mounting) vs. 1284EE (push-pin, hard mount, lapped + hard-mount, lapped + hi-pressure hard-mount). All done on an overheating E6700 (at TjMax quite a bit ) and a QX6700 (within a few C of TjMax on the weaker setups). Two mounts done on each config for improved data reliability. Will be showing average dT on sustained loads, peak dT during the sustained load, average dT on a short load, peak dT on a short load. Testing all setups with a P12, dual P12, S-Flex F, dual S-Flex F, Ultra Kaze 2000, dual Ultra Kaze 2000, Panaflo U1A, dual Panaflo U1A. Phew.

I got mine! I GOT MINE!!

while I'm confident my TRUE-Cu will perform like any other, I am very unimpressed with its cosmetic appearance!

first up is 2-3 weird scratch like marks on the top (fin)
secondly, get this: RUST on the LGA775 hold-down bracket

    pics later..

Did some testing as well, and I can tell you that there is no difference between regular TRUE- I would call it typical collectors item and this is Thermalrights point as they "stated" that this cooler will be produced in limited amount 3000pcs and definitely it wouldn't be smart to mount it vertically for 24/7 :p
In my testing Black ed. even achieved little better results, but you can probably write off it on mounting even though I run those tests twice with remounting Cu ed. and results had the same tendency! Used the same mounting for both coolers and contact were good and difference between cores were within 1-2C
