Official Nvidia X58 SLI Motherboard List

Over the past few months, there has been plenty of speculation on whether or not SLI would be supported on Intel X58 Express motherboards.

At first it was believed that motherboard makers would need to add one or two nForce 200 chips to their boards, but that was not a good solution – too expensive, too hot and a PCB space-eater.

More recently, we heard news that NVIDIA would allow SLI on X58 based boards without the need of using the unpopular NF200 chip, but now further news falls the cracks with the word being that NVIDIA will charge motherboard makers an SLI licensing fee and the exact amount and details has leaked out into the public.

After the motherboard makers sends their board for NVIDIA approval and validation, the maker will need to agree to pay NVIDIA a licensing fee of $5 USD for each board it sells with the SLI logo.

After the motherboard makers send a big fat check over to the US from Taiwan, SLI will be enabled via an SBIOS update.

So rumors where true. Well at least no changing mobos when nv/ati get again on top of the hill.

At least that's something to upgrade for

Did you notice that there is also a JR-board with X58 in that list?

I dont know if this is true or not but Ive heard nvidia is not releasing another chipset anytime soon and so people can continue to get the best product and still use nvidia products they allowed licensing on intel based boards basically cause they need to , they want to keep bussiness up and with no new nvidia chipset supporting nehalem arch then that would mean everyone with nehalems chips go ati they would loose alot of money. Licensing fee to me doesnt make sense they need this X58 chipset I think more people will buy nvidia then ever before Nvidia chipset arent very well made IMHO.

it describes the emotion the boards user will feel towards the board when trying to figure out which settings work best for OCing the brand new platform that they have no friggen clue about

I think theres a market.. there are the NV fanboys

then theres the ppl who would appreciate the extra PCIEx16 slots the nf200 provides - like myself.. hence why I'm getting the Asus P6T6 WS Revolution
