You have to test your own chip to know if it overclocks good or no
Thanx for your fast answer. I just got a new D0 and stock volt in cpuz at 21x133 is 1.25v. I just hope to be much better than my crappy C0 that needed 1.36v load to do 21x200 HT Off. I have some work to do this weekend

Vid is meaningless. Some of the best clocking chips I've had were with a high vid. From an E6700 that ran 10x400 daily with a 1.325 vid, to this i7 with a 1.2875 vid. It does 4ghz with less than 1.25v and I have benched it at 4.6 with less than 1.4v. All on air cooling.

Nice, good to know. I was kind of disappointed tbh when i saw the vid. I will report back when i have some results.

An early screenshot: P6T Deluxe V2 (B3 chipset) with the original 610 bios. HT Off.

(With the no-throttling 0006 bios and the same settings it's fully stable. This CPU is able to validate 4.7GHz with less than 1.5v)

I don't mean to disrespect anyone, but have you read RealTemp thread? There is NO VID DATA stored in Core i7 CPU's.
There is only VID voltage range of 0.800V-1.375V specified by Intel and Max safe voltage of 1.55V for vCore.
AFAIK all MB should set 1.15V for i7 without turbo and 1.25V with turbo enabled.

I know that, I was just stating what is shown when you load defaults in bios since that is what most people refer to as vid with the i7's. I've had at least a dozen i7's and they all load a different voltage at default. I've never seen a default voltage lower than 1.225. With all auto settings, I've seen speed step set all the way down to 1.125 in windows.

Ok testing at the moment. Cant go very high due to stock crappy HS. 21x175 HT On, 1.258 idle, 1.211 load, 87C max under Linx, everything stock.

    Little Bench Session.

    Best Wprime of the night

    Best Super pi

Both are personal bests for me.

I was able to get the RAM to run with a divider of 8, but failed after a pass or two of super pi. I'll work on that next as well.

    My highest validation as well

Earlier today i was doing a little testing on the new cpu. Since i am at stock cooling atm i decided to find the max i can push for 2-3 linx passes with full memory and ht on with stock everything. Max i could go was 21x185 which crashed after 1+ min with temps at 86-88C. I know i shouldnt go that high but i wanted to check the overclockability. Was the crash due to the very high temp or due to low voltage?

And this one as well with my new foun xeon W3520 .......

When ever the temp starts to get towards 90c I increase the fan rotation from low to max, gives a good 8c to 10c drop in temp. as you can see in my 4200mhz benching

Hello mate, in my opinion it could be both, but I suspect its volt since core i7 thermal temp protection kicks in around 99C (or 100 cis it?) but agian its just my personal assumption, all you need to to do is apply one noth more volt see what happens...you will get the answer.

Thanks CHICKEN patty but im still crunching on those...
At the moment got Scythe DFS123812L-2000 (2000rpm version) since I prefer a balance match silence + performence, these 38mm create good presure as well, but sometime during benching 3000rpm yeilds much better, though mega recommends 1200-1600RPM

Tell me patty whats the max BCLK limit of your Board ? Was wondering apart from the classified which mobo would you recommend on avarage for high BCLK?
Im stuck with p6T Deluxe 225BCLK limit, and I dont want 225+ with insane PCIE volt, so might switch to another mobo

IMO, I have never tried to find max BCLK for my board. however, I seem to be able to get the same clocks as everyone else using air cooling when benching. With a 21 multi the max I hit I think was 226 BCLK.

After getting 5.2 validated on water with 0C outside temps, than another hour trying to increase bclk....turns out cpuz 1.53 is out....thankssssss

Now warmed up to 7C, so best could do is 5.13. I need to get ln2, but have to get another mobo, ie classified, to make ln2 worthwhile, pretty sure I can max bclk on Gb board with just outside temps. But too happy with 24/7 never an issue GB board. Need to get separate bench comp I guess.

You'd better use watercooling at least, realtemp will give you a good idea about the thermal status of your cpu while overclocking.
If you want to know how others did with D0s then check this thread:
