    Good news, I picked up a CoolIt Freezone Elite brand new for $330 CAD ($265 US), which is a very decent price for this unit. Bad news, it is just sitting in a box right now because somebody forgot to include the LGA1366 retention bracket with it

    CoolIt is shipping one out to me but now I have to wait for almost another week before I can fire it up, and I freaking live in Vancouver, BC...province right next to their HQ location.

    Darn it NCIX!

    keep us updated dejanh - this looks like it could be a good answer to someone like me who wants better than air performance but without the hassle of a full water cooling system.

    I am curious about this also. I have thought of trying the boreas - adding it into my existing loop. Not sure how much it would help though, my water system is doing a pretty good job already. See - http://www.frozencpu.com/products/71...ol_Center.html

    My best 3dmark06 below. Interesting to note that I can get a higher score running 4 threads vs 8 - because I can oc higher with 4.

    Following my last thread re 19*200 (3.8Ghz) before http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=2013 I wanted to bring details of this setup running 19*205 (3.9Ghz)

    Ive had to bump voltages somewhat, and unfortunately the run was performed in a room which was several degrees higher so I wouldnt want to compare the temperatures directly to the previous run because the voltage will not account for all that delta.

    Here's the new data (same format as before to make comparison easier)

    Again, this system is 100% stable so far, running dual runs of Linx in parallel with Prime95 blend for a couple of hours thrashes it to death. Without this torture test I can drop some volts and still appear stable.

    i920 'A' batch, Asus p6t-D, Thermalright 120 push only Sythe fan, corsair 620HX PSU, Win Vista 64bit
    6GB Corsair Dominator 1600 ram @ 7-8-7-7-20

    Bios settings.
    CPU 1.38125v (1.31v indicated in CPUZ in windows under full system load)
    QPI 1.3250v
    Ram 1.64v
    PLL 1.92v
    IOH 1.24v
    Load line calibration = off
    CPU/IOH clock skew = normal
    CPU Differentail Amplitude = auto
    CPU / PCIE spread spectrum = disabled

    c1e,virtualization tech, execute diable bit, a20m, c-state tech all off
    HT tech, HW prefetch, adjacent cache line prefetch all on

    Will push on to 19*210 next.......

    The pair for $140...not bad lol. I might not have the PSU for it though

    On topic:

    I wanted to see the impact that QPI/PLL had on cpu temperature and going from 1.4v to 1.6v (lowest possible increase) I gained 7C on idle and load.

    Food for thought.

    Geez this is pissing me off. I CANNOT get 3.8GHz stable to save my life.

    Oh how spoiled I was with my 4.4GHz E8600 Air OC...

    Well, I am up and running but I did not do any tests yet. I want to let it run for a few hours before I decide to run tests. I did not wait for a LGA1366 bracket. Instead I remembered that the difference in the hole spacing between LGA775 and LGA1366 is very minor so I just made some minor adjustments to the LGA775 bracket by applying some force in the right spots. It works like a charm

    Now, this guy is 6 TECs, 72W each, so rated for 432W. It performs quite well so far. At 60% (basically inaudible) fan the idle temps are around 27C - 29C. I did not burn it in yet, as I want to get a few hours of it running before I decide to push the CPU and the cooler. However, considering that this managed to adequately cool a QX9770 running at 1.62V and 4.5GHz I think it will do just fine here.

    The fan gets noisy past 90% (just tried it), so I will personally likely cap the fan at 90% and make do with what that gets me.

    I like it so far though. Quite a bit cooler than air. So far, about 15C-20C less under normal load with the fan running at low speeds in my warm room. Air required me to control the room temps as well in order to be able to keep the OC stable, as under longer LinX runs when the room is normal temperature (23C) temps get up to 96C in Vista 64-bit which is unhealthy. I had to keep my room below 16C to keep the temps below 90C on air at 1.4V 4.2GHz for longer LinX runs.

    I'll update with more results later

    Sounds like we traded places. I had an E6420 that would do 3.2GHz and hit a brick wall. My i7 920 is doing over 4GHz under 1.3V.

    For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.

    Boy, what a difference disabling HT makes. I have my 920 running 50 passes Intel Burntest/12-hr Prime 95 stable @4.0Ghz 1.31vcore. I don't use a single program that would make use of Hyper-threading so I decided to see how low I could go with it turned off.

    I'm going to be testing even lower voltages later but tonight I have a date with Fallout 3(already took care of the wife ).

    well here are preliminary results...
    Its nothin much yet, but Im on the stock cooler.
    Its been stable now for over an hour, doing random stress and priming here and there...
    This is my 3836B043 =)

    Finally took care of my video card dying problem. Turns out , I guess that PCIE power connector from my PSU must have a bad connector or something. Cuz, I went to a different PCIE cable and works fine now. This is on a single rail PSU too...so it wasnt a rail sharing issue.

    Good luck. Mine boots into Vista low volts at 4GHz but isn't prime blend stable no matter what vtt,pll,vcore,vram, etc.

    It sounds more like a possible memory issue. Have you tried running Memtest yet?

    Here's another 3837B073 gem. It can go over 4GHz with under 1.3V, but I'm on the stock cooler and temps get bad with Intel Burn Test. I think these will be close to my 24/7 air settings when I get the Crossbow retention bracket installed on my Vendetta 2. I should be able to drop the Vcore slightly because I took a shot in the dark for this run. Natalie Portman says hi.

    I would make Natalie Portman my permanent buffet but that's irrelevant.

    You're going to need more than a stock cooler to keep 4Ghz stable under load. You'll need good H20 to stay 4.0 stable for any length of time under significant load. These chips run hot, I've learned that over the past 10 weeks. Whether you choose to enable HT or not will have a huge impact on your final settings. I'm stable at 1.36v with HT on but, so far, 1.31v is stable with it off and I don't use any programs, and probably never will, that make use of it.

    Wow - dejanh - nice idle temps! Post back load temps when you have them. I am most interested in 100% load at high vcore - after the systems has come to thermal equilibrium. What warranty does coolit provide on these?

    After a couple of weeks of tinkering, I have found my 24/7 settings:

    4.0GHz. 4 cores, 8 threads, Prime (small FFTs) & LinX stable. 1523MHz DDR low latencies.

    CPU Multiplier = 21x
    BCLK = 190
    VCore = 1.356v (allowing for 0.01 vdroop)
    QPI = 1.35v
    PLL = 1.89v
    Vdimm = 1.65v
    HT = on
    Turbo = off
    QPI = Lowest selectable value
    UCLK = Lowest selectable value

    Also passes Memtest and 4096FFTs in Prime (really stresses RAM) for over an hour.
