Man...hosed my main rig and spent all night and all day restoring it...5k lost.
Added a Cruncher so maybe it will come back...
Man if we could Crunch on our GPUs I would be KING.

Music is my LIFE!!!
I also cleaned mine out last night in preparation to put it up for sale.
What did you do to hose it?
my crunching output is way down: lost 6 cores - it looks like 3 mobos died, can't even cobble a working rig together from the parts. got a replacement (quad core) on the way though...

I was preparing to clone my V-rap to my SSD and ran "AcronisCleaner.exe" which was only supposed to remove any registry entries related to an old install of TrueImage11 I uninstalled. It changed some entries that made for a BSOD after the Windows load screen. Tried to repair it repeatedly and finally gave up and tried installing Vista 64 on the SSD. I knew from research that XP will not see the SSD properly.
My Vista disk refused to "expand files" so after waiting almost two hours (while doing laundry ) I tried a Vista disk that I have with SP1 slipstreamed into it. It took almost an hour but finally "Expanding Files" showed progress and after almost two hours Vista installed.
Trouble continued to dog my heels because the Driver Disk for the D5400XS refused to read. Other disks read...but the Intel disk just refused. SO I transferred the files to a thumbdrive on another PC nearby. That worked and I got the chipset drivers installed. Installed the wireless adapter and was able to get to the ATI site and DLed the latest ATI driver.
Trouble continued to plague me...the ATI driver created a BSOD and I could not remove it or change it in SAFE mode...
At this point I decided just to clone one of my Cruncher's and use that to get back online.
Using Acronis Home 2009 I cloned an updated Vista 64 SP1 in less time than it took me to install an OS normally...let alone all Laggy like last night.
But Trouble was not far away...shortly after booting up I got the activation prompt and saw that MS had detected I was trying to use one key on two rigs. I tried using the (completely legit) key I used for the hosed installation last year. It toldme it was not a valid key. Same key I used last year.
So I hunted through all my crap and found a key I had not used yet. So around 2AM I was back online and Crunching...but crunching duplicate units from the cloned drive
Fixed that in the morning around 10am Yesterday...took me until 1PM to get all my stuff the way I like it.
Nothing terrible...just something that AcronisCleaner changed made my PC throw up.

What the hell is going on? http://statsnstones.tswb.org/Project...&userid=414052
I understand losing one day due to my rig going down...and I understand bouncing back the next...but now I see yesterday and the day before are about 5K low again!
I've added stuff...not shut down stuff.
Can anyone help me understand this?
Thanks.

You're not having validation problems are you? Check your "Results Status" and see if you're collecting a lot of errors or just building up a backlog of work waiting to be validated.

How do I do that (sorry lol)

check for 'errors' 'invalids' here :
Thanks. There seems to be a communication problem with my top producer the SkullTrail. I see nothing validated for today...and I do see a whole lotta "inprogress" from 3/4 which is bad. THat's from when I reinstalled everything and probably have a queu of work that will never get done now.
No errors. Only 1 invalidateed from a couple of days ago.
Not sure how to make sure the ST is commnicating. It seems to be doing the work and reporting it...

Just open the BOINC manager and look at the Messages and Transfers tabs. If you have a stack of Transfers pending then you have a comms issue.

It's empty weird.
It's like they are going into a Black Hole. I check the .xml file to see that I had configured the Name and Team correctly.

Well your "Transfers" list is supposed to be empty. I just wanted you to make sure there wasn't a bunch of stuff stuck in there.
[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Should I just reinstall BOINC? What happens to all the work I have queed if I do that?

You can backup data folder elsewhere and put it back in once reinstalled.
Or, if you are using the latest version, it tells you to use another folder for data storing, so simply re-use data folder when reinstalling.

Any ideas about why this one rig is hungup like that? The rest all validate shortly after reporting. I don't want to repeat the same mistake.

One of the most common causes is failed OC which results errors in results which in the end results "hang" in validation progress. You may eventually get the credits, it may just take more time than usual.
Check which machine is producing the most hangup. If it is an OCed unit, lower OC slightly by around 200mhz.
