Well, there was Abit. Most boards had fan controls that could beat all but the most highend addon solutions. Now it's goodbye Abit, cause all you people didn't buy their mobos

Gigabyte is a good example for how it should not be, zero control over fans, Foxconn on the other hand, the Blackops allows adjusting each fan in 1% steps, or have them temp controlled.

I think they should grab a 4-port or 8-port switch or something and add it to a fan controller board. Basicallay have setting 1 be BIOS controlled and 2 be manual control. 4-8 cheap dials or additional switches for L/M/H would be cheap as well, and help along control of those pesky 3-pin fans. Anyways--I'm 100% satisfied with how my Abit IP35-E handles fans. The awesome thing is they planned for dual-fan heatsinks a while ago, so they had an Intel 4-pin and a standard 3-pin fan port within an inch of each other below the socket. If I got a second fan for my Infinity, I'd have a nice little spot to plug the fan in and options include control to match the primary fan. Very nice BIOS solution: clear, concise, and powerful. I have always thought that fan setups are b0rk3d on most motherboards. And a riser card with supplemental power would be awesome: allow us to run everything with MB fan control and no extra power though the MB itself.

I dont want all those damn fans running through my motherboard anyway, that is just extra stress on the board. Havent you ever seen a post where a guy hooks to many fans up and burns out the circuit? I have seen several, I hook mine directly to a fan controller or the PSU...

Which is why I said to run supplemental power with it too: no reason to stress the board directly. And if you burn something out--it's just a single small controller and should be cheap to replace.

I use either the Toughpower Power Express 250w or 450w, and run all my pumps and fans/lights off it. They are great, they take up 1 - 5 1/2 slot and work with your motherboard, thus giving you extra p[ower for all the extra do dadzzzz.

Does returning to a topic count as offtopic? or only after if rescuing it from sliding into the sheep direction?

Have my UD3P up and running.
    Some pic's:

Cpu - Ram Spacing is great, Xigmatek HDT cooler and Corsair Dominators = zero space issues

Ram can be removed with the Graphicscard installed

What the Heatsinks look like under the silly blue airflow preventers

I'll see how far I can push my good old Q6700, just dont expect any 3D benches as I'm running a gpu of the performance level "crunchers choice"

Nice pictures. What card is that? The 7200GS? And I was unaware this topic drifted off topic--I Don't think there's such thing as off-topic in this forum section!

How much are these boards BTW?

Im thinking of picking up dual Q8200 rigs within a few months. Have no clue on any of the new boards out, Last decent board I bought was a P5B DLX, almost 2 years ago, this board sticks out tho, lots of good things being said about it etc.

    UD3R, $120-15 MIR = $105 USD
    UD3P, $137-20 MIR = $117 USD

Excellent prices for excellent motherboards. How is power setup on these? I'm assuming 8-phase on all.

I actually noticed there's such thing as NewEgg China a bit ago when I noticed a link for Canada--too bad I can't read the site though! Anyways--is NCIX the only Canadian source?

Unfortunately the UD3's haven't made their way down here yet Going off the 'Egg prices, they'll hopefully be somewhere around the AU$150 range, which is fairly decent for a mid-range P45 board, especially one that actually has decent 'fet cooling.

But they're very nice boards, and I wouldn't mind picking one up some time.

Hi Karl, I have the same problem in Shanghai with regard to getting hardware. Have a look at finding mail order in Hong Kong or Singapore, thats where I get the latest hardware.

I have an uber fan of doom on my chassis: 36CM one. Anyways--I don't like to put any more than 2 fans through the motherboard. Right now, I have an S-Flex "F" (the ones with the Infinity) mounted on the rear and the stock Intel cooler, which sucks by the way. Once I get my Infinity here, I can remount and have a nice system again. Anyways: part of my suggestion to have a controller board is because I don't want all the extra power for fans being drawn through a motherboard--can really wreck havoc.

Are these UD3 boards, so far, sensitive to P4 +12V v. EPS +12V? I've never really heard of a desktop board that is, but you never know!
