MY HEATWARE 76-0-0
Hi guys I'm organizing a Group Purchase for the complete MIPS waterblock kits for these boards (all the series).
People who are interested please post here:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/Forums/...d.php?t=210836
I was wondering if someone could help me with my settings. Been trying to get something stable for awhile, but i'm not sure if I just hit the limit or I'm doing something wrong. VID = 1.3125
Intel Xeon x3220 @ 3.52ghz (440x8) VTT 1.38 PLL 1.57 Vcore 1.45 LLC enabled
Xigmatek s1283 w/ Bracket
Crucial PC 8500 5-5-5-15 @ stock
3.6 requires about .05 more volts. 3.7 requires another .05
I'm having a few problems with the UD3P I bought recently. It has trouble booting with USB devices attached. With 3 USB HDDs plugged in it simply won't pass the POST screen, and with 1 or 2 it will often reboot itself several times before it passes.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a suitable workaround or BIOS setting I can enable? I've updated to the latest BIOS already. Would getting hold of a powered USB hub help?
Anyway, apart from that the board seems to be performing well. I've got my e8400 going at 4.25Ghz (532 x 8) with memory at 1:1 and it seems stable enough.
just got the EP45-UD3P and a Q9550 should have the phase hook up soon to see what this thing can do i love this mobo already, on a tpower i45 i needed 2.4v to run 1050Mhz on my Corsair Dominator PC2 8500 and the UD3P run 1066 like it nothing @ 2.08v cant wait to do some real ram ocing

Stole me a UD3P yesterday (it was that cheap) played 2~3 hours with it & my Q9650 and the best fsb I could manage was 549mhz. The board makes fsb super easy & is very very stable indeed. I'm loving the way the board will always boot when you've messed a setting up & allow you to try something else without a full CMOS/BIOS clear.
I've been playing about for a couple hours tonight & although I don't think I have a Prime blend stable 500 x 9 Q9560 I'm doing alright. On the shipped F4 BIOS I have my Q9650 running 500 x 8.5 on 1.35v, 1.40v NB & my OCZ 8500 SLI's @ DDR1000 1.80v so I'm quite happy.
See you all around

I'm totally disliking the DDR3 version at the moment, no post at 400FSB is possible... tried a zillion things... either I got a dud board or my 2 ram kits are just not compatible with this board...
Jeez Gigabyte the voltage settings are horrific on the EP45 UD3P... hope to get a better bios on monday ... otherwise this board is flying asap in the garbage bin
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved
Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree
Excelleram 4GB PC12800 C9 (1.75 volts) and 2GB Mushkin PC12800 C9 kit (1.7volt)
Tried pretty every important setting (timings, straps, PL,...) even tried to run 400FSB with ram underclocked... system refuses to post

@C-N,i totally agree with you ,very stable and nice oc failure feature.@leegoofd,damn thats a shame, ihope its a memory compatibilty issue.cause i was hoping to give ddr3 a go.and was planning on using the ddr3 version of the UD3P based on my experiences with the ddr2 one.hopefully you can get it figured out, good luck,EDIT-lee have you tried messing with the mch ref-voltage?setting this manually was the only way for me to be able to even oc at all.

MY HEATWARE 76-0-0
I'm hoping someone will give some direction/advice to a OC newbie. I have a EP45-UD3R MB with a E8500 and Patriot Viper 4GB (2x2GB) PC8500 RAM. My P/S is 500W Corsair VX500W in a Cool Master Case. With default MB settings, the system boots up great and I'm very pleased with it's performance. I wanted to try a little over clocking, but any small changes to the MB settings seems to make this system un-bootable. It either loops before the Gigabyte splash screen or just after it.
I've done some OC before with DFI boards (with good success), but I feel like I'm missing a simple overlooked step on this board that doesn't allow me to make any adjustments (up and I even tried to under clock it). I've read through many of these posts, but again, I have been unsuccessfull to make any changes based on what I've read.
Would someone be able to suggest some basic things I should look for or try? I also have some 1GB OCZ PC8500 RAM available, but I have the same results with that RAM.
Thanks!
LDN
I'm pleased to report that my endless reboot issue and poor overall performance of my UD3R was due to a bad stick of ram. They tested ok in my old system a week ago, but one of my beloved double-sided Ballistix PC8500 is now error city. I now have 3 sets of Ballistix with one dead stick each I put in one of the good 10th Anniv. PC5300 with the good PC8500 and presto!...the overclocking machine I was expecting!
Using the default timings, I haven't had much time to test it thoroughly or to fine tune the voltages, but is stable so far at 4300 Mhz.
LDN: You should be able to overclock to 3600 Mhz with the bios setting on Auto...or with bumps of vCore to 1.3v and VDimm to 2.1v. If still no go, try using just one stick of ram to see if it helps isolate your overclocking issues.
Asus P5K Premium "Black Pearl" \ E8400 E0 4.32 GHz @ 1.36v \ 4G Crucial Ballistix D9GMH \ ATI 1900XT \ TRUE 120mm \ Fortron FX600-E \ CM690 case w/ 7 fans \ 24" BenQ 2ms LCD
I took the settings from BuGjAE and I was able to get my e8400 e0 to 500x8,5
So i want to thank this thread it helped me a lot.
I think my memory is holding me back. Couldn't get it past 1000 in low Fsb with higher Mem Multi nor >500 Fsb 1:1. My memory is G.Skill DIMM Kit 4GB PC2-8000U CL5-5-5-15 (DDR2-1000) (F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ)
any suggestion for a good setting ? >1000 ?
Here a screenie of my 500 fsb on ud3r.
Thanks Xvys for the reply.....I took out one stick and it made no difference, but I did figure out what was causing my system not to boot correctly.....believe it or not, it was my external Seagate USB Drive. The moment I unplugged it, I was able to make a few changes to the bios and OC to 4.00Ghz. I'll have to figure out my problem with the external USB drive, but that can wait for another day (has anyone ever heard of such a problem with a external drive like that?).
I would like to ask a couple of other general Gigabyte and OC questions of anybody willing to answer them.
1. Is it more important to have a higher FSB and a lower multiplier (for example, 8x500 vs 9.5x420 to reach 4Ghz)
2. How is the FSB : DRAM ratio configured? Mine currently says 5:6, but I see many CPU-Z posts showing 1:1. Does it matter?
3. This Gigabyte board has an option to write CMOS to BIOS (which I've not seen before in other MB's).....Is that just different profiles you can create?
Thanks and sorry if these are really newbie questions!
LDN
got the phase hook up and testing got to 4GHz like it was nothing, it stable
edit: got to 500MHzx8.5 on 1.31v i think im going to like this board=)

~4h prime 65 stable and still running. What do you suggest in improving the specs.
How high could the pi black go at cas5?

I've only had a few hours on this board so don't have any settings I would feel comfortable passing on as rock stable as I simply haven't had long enough to test them.
Having said that all I had to do to get 500 x 8.5 running prime was as follows, up the CPU termination voltage to 1.3v, the vcore to 1.35625v, NB to 1.4 & all the rest is as the board set it. The NB needs more than 1.4 but less than 1.5 to run a couple hours of large custom fft's, I'll find the sweet spot later today. I also have the CPU & PCI drive strengths up at 1000mv as this helped with high fsb so I just left it there when I came down to only 500 lol.
I am also just 1:1 atm on the 333 strap. I have manually set my timings to a safe (I know they can do it) value although the board sets them very very loose as std anyway.
Hope this helps.
