But seeing many having problems over 475Mhz with the UD3P makes myself overthinking the decision.

    Deal or no deal?

hey pest...I can sell you my UD3P if you interested. Still working fine like day 1 and capable of 500fsb+. They are going to ebay.de this weekend.
This EPT-Extreme + DDR3 is sweet. No more bs 1300 ram limit and 12k read + 44ns latency. Worth the play before a mature LGA 1366 chips come out.

    The P35C is a DDR2/DDR3 Comboboard.
That is the first reason why it's hard to get a decent FSB.
The second one is the limitation of MCH to 1.3V.
It is working at 500+ fsb, but why should i use a PL > 12, just to crush that mark. , With my config at 472Mhz i get ~9000mb/s Everest-Read, and I think this is very well for a board like this.

I'm no expert when it comes to overclocking, but look at the last site of the 8800GT vMod thread to see what i'm able to do with my stuff

about Gigabyte P45 UD3x boards, i'm not just yet a real fan of any mothertboard's model or makers, but i just find it a bit irritating when hearing things like that, and i was going to ask you the same, where are you getting the idea that it's able to go to only 475 FSB (and not more), otherwise, there will be a problem with your overclocking?

As I already wrote, i only want to be sure , because I've very limited amounts of "free" money, and getting a board just to push FSB +20Mhz is already a bit crazy.
I'm not one of those 25% who don't know what they're doing, so you got me convinced.

If you have some pics of Prime-Blend running > 500fsb, PM me.
But i think, buying it from someone from germany is the less stressing way.
    Warranty and such...

    PL12 at 500 FSB ?

well my UD3R is able to run 1:1 and PL8 above 500 FSB.

the Static tRead Value (tRD, or Performance level) setting has to do with RAM that are using on the system as well, not just the board's chipset and vdimm/MCH voltage setting.

as of my testing right now with a mixed RAM kits running at CAS4,
the tRD value of 8 can be set in BIOS to upto 519 FSB and the system boots into Windows just fine,
above 519MHz the PL9 setting is needed (system won't boot otherwise).

BTW, pest, if i can recall, it's been since Jan-Feb but i'll try to get some old BIOS settings that i used to use with the P35-DS4s and E8200/E6750,
but i think i was able set PL7 on my P35-DS4 running 500 FSB and 1:1 at DDR2-1000 4-4-4-x timing.

I'm using PL8 at 472, and i'm with SetFSB able to Prime95-Blend at 505Mhz PL9 about 2h, not much worse than yours, but my firefox and system-services under Vista64 are occasionally crashing

1.3V MCH is moderate for P35, wish i could push this a bit

Maybe it would work with a PL < 12, but the performance would always be inferior to my actual setting, and maybe i'm too dumb to do it right

second reason...i need to have something new to play with

    Thanks, radaja.

500fsb at pl8 seems to be stable enough...
but it looks like for 4x1GB RAM the everest results are not that good.

i don't have any more better ddr2 modules available right now but this two kits still working and gives me 533FSB 1:1 at PL8 within Windows, but it's just not anywhere near stable.

    ive got a quick question

how safe would it really be to run this 24/7? there is a LOT of fud regarding voltages and temps, and i honestly dont know what to believe regarding what is safe and what is too much
(i've dropped ram to 1.98v and vtt to 1.34 and am still stable)

i have no qualms running this for benchmarking and when i need some extra power, but im considering dropping it down to maybe 3.8-3.9 for daily use if it would greatly enhance the longetivity of my board and chip.

I wouldnt have a problem running that 24/7. I run the same vcore and much higher volts than you everywhere else for my 24/7 setup.

If anything is holding you back, it must be the Kingston sticks. Those Gskill 8500 HKs should be good enough for 600FSB 1:1.

AFAIK, this P45 based boards are known to have at least PL 9/10 when running 1:1 at 500FSB and above,
and i think i was talking about having tRD/PL 8 at above 500FSB, it seems to me that i need using CL4 to get it, and that kinston kit is pc2-9600 hyperx and it can do better than the gskill 8500 HK kit in running CAS4-4-4.

    in advanced timing control settings...
i just set tRD to 8 and rest of the subtiming to
    3
    3
    6
    30
    3.
and rest of the settings in there are set to Auto's include the drive strength setting.

in the Standard Timing Control of the main M.I.T. page, i set the (G)MCH Frequency Latch to auto and memory multiplier to 2.0D, Turbo and 4-4-4-10 timings.

Nice Run Nugzo, I just wonder why your scores are still below mine on my old faithful DFI x48 with less Mhz then you

I got a UD3P too but only touching it next year.

X48 ? Maybe that is why. I cant recall seeing any P45 doing this well 1:1.
