AMD says Max voltage on a 65nm Phenom is 1.55v's Merkk1.
Personally, I don't feel comfortable running the voltage that high, even though I'm running on pretty good aftermarket air....
As long as you have good cooling (load temps under 60c) you could probably get better clocks if you bumped your CPUvid up to 1.4v.
Of course you'd do so at your own risk...
I'm actually a wimp when it comes to high V's... When I bought my 1st Phenom back in December I wouldn't go over 1.3v for extended periods either. But now, I really don't think 1.4v is too extreme unless your going to stress your system (4core Prime/Linpack 30pass/OCCT for hours)....
I've had mine at 1.4vid for a few weeks under normal use without any problems and that includes Video Compression, massive multi tasking and gaming...
BTW: Thanks for your input on the matching IMC/HT clocks!!

Hi AOD dosen't show my cpu volts right for 3.0ghz i run1.35v on the cpu just finsh a prine run a 3.105 stable 1.4 volts ACC setting -4% on core 1,2,3 core 4 set to 0 going to run 3dmark-06 than the big test to see if it reboot with thoughts ACC setting.
Same old story. As soon as i run a ACC setting that has a split made into it ,it will boot the frist time around run 3.1 ghz stable but when i try reboot it, it will not reboot .Now i got to run the PC declock for a few hours before i can try again .I'am going ot test to see if a -4% and a -2% ACC will reboot tomarow .
Hey guys..
I just started doing my homework last night.
With a few tests I managed to run 3dMARK06 and Aquamark.
At 3248mhz with 14 multi, I currently passed SPI with 23,593sec.
Stock cooling, 1,33vcore and temp around 67 degrees.
My ACC is at 0.
Now my question is hot to get pass a small multi problem.
At 14 multi, I reach 230 at fsb (460 memory) and pass SPI.
At 14,5 multi, I reach 222 and pass SPI.
At 15 multi,I can't pass SPI at 209 fsb..
Tried a little more vcore, nb vid and vdimm but nothing changed.
Any ideas??Should I reaise any other voltage?Or change ACC, which works great at 0?

yeah I gotcha, I just refered to it as Hyper transport. Anyhow, the Nehalems (intel) now have IMC's but those chips are not proving to be as tough as people thought.
The IMC frequency will only run as fast as your FSB runs, since its a multiple of it. So since I am using only the multiple to clock my IMC will not run past 2.0 GHz (200 FSB). However the NB (I/O chip) has its own multiplier which is the FSB x what multi you set for it at 200x12 making the NB run at 2.4GHz right now for me. So no, my frequencies are not equal.
Oh, and thanks, It did clear up any confusions.
Hi there. I see you have a 125w 9950, congrats on that. I can already see the difference from the 140w version I have.
Anyhow, I would just raise up one notch on the CPU voltage. Try these settings:
CPU voltage one notch higher
CPU NB voltage - 1.35v
then put your NB and SB voltages on Auto. I run them auto all the time and I have no problems. Try that and let me know how it goes. Remember you don't need to give your RAM voltage as you are using a lower FSB meaning your RAM will be clocked at lower speeds.
Ah dang ,, Bro thats all that cooler can handle..Seriously get a nice Aircooler and 86 the stocker.. Your Overclocking and that is the only thing holding you back..ONCE YOU PUT MORE THAN 1.35VOLTS the stock cooler fumbles bad above 3.2ghz...
Despite the STOCk thing your doing good...that chip has more left trust me..
Hers a link that shows some decent coolers..
I really like the Xigmatek for the price it performs like the Thermalrights..Which are tabout the best for air..Even the (Sythe Mine) Rocks better than stock cooler.
http://www.petrastechshop.com/cpuheatsinks.html
Also i got board and decided to see how fast my 9950 goes..i lowered it from 3.5ghz to 3.4ghz but tweaked the Ram timing and NB ..Now ,i know sounds like i slowed it down .The NB and Ram still has it srceaming..My TA770/sb600 dosnt like Volts so i decided to run it at only 3.4-3.45ghz for now..Should have my new Mobo Sunday To see what this chip can do on SB750
@ 3.4ghz Phenoms are a very fun ,nice ,nice ,nice ,chip when tuned on any mobo.
Note;
Have you found a setting that lets you set the CPU to CHIPSET NBvolts to say 1.31-1.35v this will help the IMC // Ram be more stable.
Im refering to the MOTHERBOARD NB CHIPSET volts not CPUNBvolts.
Its wierd ,, the CPU Multiplyer can affect ram stability alot..
Some CPU multis work better..Its tuff to narrow it down ,,so keep track what works and what dosnt .This way you know what you did.
Try Different ram dividers 400 may be better than 667 and so on..
The Higher CPU Multi = lower Ram divider ,, unless you have uber clocking ram or unlocked CPU like us.
(In my Screenshot see my HTT = 220 that using 1066 divider)...your ram may not like the divider your using @ 15x..The 15x divider may be Pushing your CPU's imc by not having More Volts .
9850/9950 = 1.35- 1.45v CPU needed for 3.3-3.35ghz... That heatsink verywell can be holding you back(Too much heat @1.35volts already).
Last if it dosnt work on 209 try 208 or 210..could be just buggy...The Higher the CPUMulti = lower HTT regardless.
If all else fails im pretty shure its the heatsinks fault not yours
Hope that helps ya..
gOtVoltage whats the 24/7 safe voltage for a 9950 ?

Hi i use a +4% on my 24/7 3.0 ghz prime stable set-up but to get 3.1 prime stable i have to put a split into the ACC setting to get prime stable .If i do it on the +ACC setting side it take a big split but doing on the -side of ACC it make the split smaller to get my CPU prime stable just trying to see if i can find a ACC setting that will let me run prime stable 3.1 ghz and still let me reboot the PC all the time like my like 24/7 3.0 ghz set-up dose .
Woot baby 3.1 ghz stable just finsh up hour long prime run some 3Dmark-06 runs vantage run and now it reboot all the time . What it took for me to get there was a ACC setting of -4% on core 1, 2, 3 and core 4 was set to -2% and with thoughts setting 3.1 ghz run stable and i can reboot it after i trun it off . On the Foxconn a79a-s board if i run a split of more than 1 (-4% to 0) and i get the rig stable it will not be able reboot after i turn the power off. So i have to keep the split with in one than that fix the rebooting trouble . Run 3.1 ghz @ 1.4v NB and NT link 230 @ 1.35v
I find that no matter what the ACC or cpu vid my Core #3 bugs out on me. So as a last resort, I cheated. I clocked this core at 3.105ghz and left the others at 3.208, and it worked! I am using cpu vid of 1.350 which peaks at 1.38 (using different monitors) under very heavy load.
I am very stable with 2 hrs of OCCT and 3 hrs of Prime95. My max temp is 47.5C under water.

way to go Merrk, very happy for you man. finally stable at 3.1GHz.
and Jazzman, I have never thought of that, but that is brilliant hehehe. Great work
Thank you . I'am going to start thinking what i need to do to get 3.2 ghz stable now . I'am using vista-64 so 3.2ghz stable on that OS air cool would be a good over clock i think .
is the aod build in stress test as good as the good old prime95 or orthos?
these settings are 1hr aod stress test stable.
will do a long 8hr run tomorrow to see if it craps out. so far it runs everything i throw at it (vantage, cod4, dod, cs:s, dirt, aitd) under vista x64.

while aod stability test runs for hrs @3.2ghz, prime95 v25.6 bsods after a few minutes and reboots my system. what could be the reason?
my ram settings are on auto except the primary 5-5-5-15. tried the ram on auto(2.1v) and 2.2v, they are rated for 2.2-2.4v. maybe i have to fine tune the secondary timings, but i canīt find any information about these sticks and the GeiL forum seems to be down forever.
i also canīt raise the htt, even 5mhz more and i get a bsod. so i think it has to be ram related.
