We visited Eric, Jarry and Jet at the DFI headquarters in Taipei today where they gave us an exclusive up-close look at a working sample of their forthcoming LANPARTY UT X58 motherboard.

I think it looks like it has plenty of room. Do you need more than 2 slots per card?

It looks like same 8-phase Volterra digital PWM circuitry. Hopefully well get a mosfet water block from EK now.

The breakout box for esata is just going to jack the cost, they even stated they dont want to add unnecessary features.

DFI boards lost my interest once they starting making their BIOS menus insanely complex to the point where I can't even tweak them without being an engineer.

    EnJoY,
    Why is that?
I'd think "more options > less options"?

Nice.. I hope its on time... :P
As for BIO options I dont think you need to tweak all of it... few main settings and you are ready to play the GAME!!

I lost my interest in OC'ing & tweaking RAM after I moved from a DFI nF4 Ultra (S939) to LGA775 (i965P -> P35). The lack of RAM timings is insulting after witnessing how much they impact to RAM OC'ing.

Less is more sometimes and it's a very complex matter to have a full-featured product but still very easy to use. I guess they are just trying to satisfy the most hardcore enthusiasts with all those options and they went a little too far .

Well that was the rule with previous LanParty boards that blazed the path for the current generation of BIOS that we see today. But unfortunately, in my opinion, and that of other tweakers...they simply got a little too advanced for those of us who aren't MIT graduates. I mean I was always sort of on the edge of 'smart' when it came to that sort of thing anyway, and the DFI NF4 was probably as complex as it can really get for me before it leaves the realm of fun and becomes work.

Right, and I think Asus has regained some lost market share from the NF4 days because of it. Asus BIOS are even becoming extremely complex these days, but at least I can still understand those.

Should be a welcome addition for most users although programming with the SPI header is still faster and easier.

The number of options themselves really isn't the problem. It's the fact that too many of them have no "auto" setting and require user input even with a basic configuration. DFI seems to be listening though as the newer boards and BIOS' are being released with the capability of an "auto" selection for more of the settings.
