I might be done overclocking for a while - found my golden E0 E8500

Kinda been jealous as hell of all those lucky Europeans getting those Q822A435 E0 E8600's that do 4.5ghz stable @ 1.3v.

Thought I had a great chip when i found my Q822A553 E0 E8500 that does 4.4ghz @ 1.328v and 4.5ghz @ 1.36v stable on air but still wasn't the golden chip like the e8600's mentioned above.
    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=288

Found a chip on ebay last week: a Q822A549 E0 E8500 for $185 shipped - what the hell had a large paypal credit just lying around anyways...

Chip looked fairly flat out of the box but going with my better judgment decided to lap it anyways - good thing as it was quite concave - everything was copper except a circle of grey right in the middle for quite a while.

Took out my 4.3ghz max E8600ES, put in the new chip, and slapped on my trusty washer modded TRUE

Still priming orthos now on air but I am getting that warm fuzzy feeling

Like the title says, I might be done overclocking for a while...

    EDIT: 1 hour later...

    I'm done!!!

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

    Nice clocks

ASUS Maximus II Formula or ASUS P5Q Deluxe

is the Max worth the extra 75 bucks ?

Got me a E8500 Q822A537 Pack Date 8/7/07 but idk which mobo

cuz im using a Asus P5B Deluxe (Vdroop Pencil Mod) [Vcore, Vmch & Vdimm Hard Mod] right now

Cuz i was thinking to try it on the P5B then get the mobo later if the prices drop when i7 comes out

A lot of ppl are happy with the p5q deluxe - they even have a modified bios for overclocking thread for it here at X/S: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=200109
See how prices go after i7.

    so what

you could run that dual core on your phase change system past 5GHz dead easy....probably a full 1GHz over your quad

it will run most things faster than your quad

    what's the big deal

unless you do tonnes of video encoding and CPU intense work that takes advantage of multiple cores

but you would have to do it professionally to make sense IMO

IBT? That's ok, stable enuf for me and don't want to degrade it with super high temps (IBT) as the TRUE is already in the 60's with prime =)

IBT is nice tool for stability test; it's a pity that the temps are too high

no IBT is a very hardest test for cpu therefore, (usually) the temps are high (on air)

@Laguna just try with priority 8
