First Deus Ex 3 Details Emerge

    http://games.slashdot.org/games/08/10/06/0257228.shtml
"Deus Ex 3, the third entry in the influential FPS/RPG series, was confirmed to be in development by Eidos Montreal nearly a year ago — and now the first solid details on the game have finally emerged. UK magazine PC Zone has a cover story on Deus Ex 3 for their 200th issue (which has reportedly just begun reaching subscribers), and CVG has relayed a number of interesting tidbits from the preview: '... this time around combat won't be influenced by stats, but will rely purely on your personal marksmanship skills. Instead stats will influence "a vast array of fully upgradeable and customisable weapons," and you'll be able to tailor your arsenal to your play style with mag upgrades, scopes and other add-ons. What's more, stealth will now rely on a cover system rather than shadows, and damage will be dealt with by a very Call of Duty-style auto-heal.'"

Damn, I glanced at the 'photo' and thought it was just that... a photo. It was only when I looked a second time I realised it wasn't I hope the actual gameplay graphics are as good as this.

This will no doubt be a great game if it has not been rushed. Deus Ex was a great, in depth game, Deus Ex 2 also (albeit less so).

I think I should replay Deus Ex 1 sometimes, back then I had a crappy comp and had to use rather low quality settings but that didn't stop me from loving the game.

Looking forward to the 3rd Deus Ex game!

Wow, like they don't have a clue what sequel they're making. Sneaking in DX1 was far from just shadow/light based. It was also range and viewfield based and a little sound based.
If you were behind a crate in full light they couldn't see you. If you dropped a box or something that made a noise they also responded suspicious.

-Cover system as apposed to shadows/light
-FPS skills+Customizable weapons as apposed to statistics based combat
    -Auto heal

Sounds like they are trying to make a console friendly FPS with RPG undertones..... Not excited yet.

    oooh, exciting.

ehh... concept art with jagged edges ? what's so special about that image ? your typical jungle crysis got way more stuff to render than this..

Urgh, please no, Deus Ex is not a straight FPS, player skill should not be the paramount factor. The genius of Deus Ex lies in the story and the skill and aug system, meaning you had to make tactical decisions based on your playstyle. To reduce all this to simple "influence [over] "a vast array of fully upgradeable and customisable weapons,"" will ruin the game.

Deus Ex 1 and 2 used Unreal Engine 1 and 2 respectively. Now, maybe that 3rd version still use Unreal Engine, now version 3.

Yeah me too loved the game but had to endure playing the game on low settings, but you know its a top game when the graphics don't deminish the gaming experience in anyway.

I never played Deus Ex 2, was it much of an improvement over 1?

It was more complex, kinda glitchy and not as interesting of the story.
I had fun with it thought just because I enjoyed the first one so much

That would be great, the unreal engine 3 is pretty good

Really looking forward to this, FPSRPG is by far my favorite!

I'm pretty sure the screens in post #20 are in-game or at least rendered offline. Not drawings.

Who cares about graphics really? Deus Ex excelled because of other things and to be honest, graphics were pretty crappy even then.
But everything else was just outstanding.
