    Thumbs up .:Fl4t.Bl4ck.in.Blu3:. [hybrid:water/phase project] - !FINISHED!

    Hey guys!

    This is my first work log ever because: 1st) I'm a lazy bum and 2nd) I suck in photography 3rd) I keep on switching hardware. But this time I really need some words of encouragement (and advice) to finish this.

    With those concepts in mind bare with me.

    My plan is to have a good old trustworthy machine running Crossfire 16x. Some components I bought back in Mar/08 and refuse to take the fall in price to resell and buy new (like 4780's and blocks etc).

    Colors:
    As the name Flat Black in Blue. Everything inside as flat black as possible tubes/liquid will be uv blue and discrete blue leds in some spots.

    Core:
    Case: LianLi rebadged Rocketfish
    Motherboard: DFI Lanparty LT X48-TR2
    CPU: Intel Q9650
    Video: 2 x ATI Radeon 3870 (plan to voltmod)
    RAM: G.SKILL F2-9600CL5D-4GBPI 2 vs 2Gb 1300Mhz
    Optical: Samsung Writemaster DVDRW
    HDD's1_2 RAID0: 2 x WD Raptors 74gb 10000rpms sataI
    HDD's2_3 RAID1: 2 x WD 250 250gb sataII
    PSU: Silverstone OP1000w-E

    Cooling:
    CPU: OCZ Cryo-Z (yes I got one)
    GPU: 2 x EK-FC3870 Full Cover Nickel-Plated CF ready
    Chipset: Danger Den MPC Universal w/ custom backplate
    PWM Mosfets: HeatKiller SW-16 for DFI X48 w/ custom backplate
    Board Mosfets: Enzotech MOS-C1
    South Bridge: Enzotech SLF-1
    Ram: OCZ XTC DDR2 Cooler
    Radiator: Termochill PA120.3 with Mouting Mods Custom Grill
    Rad Fans: Yate Loons med speed
    Fan controllers: 2 x Sunbeam Rheobus
    Pump: Swiftech MCP 655
    Reservoir: Swiftech Micro RES
    Tubing: MasterKleer 7/16" clear or XSPC 7/16" UV Blue/Clear (help decide!)
    Fittings: 7 x Bistpower Compression 7/16" / 1 x Danger Den Fillport with BP Angle fitting / Draining 1 x BP Sealing Plug

    Case Mods and Add-Ons:
    All flat black inside case (with 3m Rubberized dampening flat black spray);
    Window mod;
    All flat black cables and wires (cable routing and black sleeving);
    PA120.3 on top including DD fill port angled;
    Blue CCFL lighting (switchable) all around (inside EK's GPU blocks using BP led taps);
    4 x Cold cathode lamps 10";
    Flat black OCZ XTC Cooler;
    Probably a powdered coated flat black Cryo-Z Case;
    Feser Pre-Mixed UV Blue;
    All flat black/oxide hex type head screws

    Will ad more when I get the ideas going.

    Now lets talk pictures:
    ------------------------------------------------------

    EDIT TO INCLUDE FINISHED PROJECT PICS:

    Here's the result of my CCFL Lighting and the installation I made to play with different shades of UV/ Purple/White and Blue inside the case:

    Did OCZ actually release a retail phase change unit or did you get one of the few they made before cancelling production of the unit?

    Outstanding! Too bad they won't ship, "because of the compressor". Frozen CPU ships phase change units, wonder what the deal actually is. Not bad at all for $399, hope it performs well. Tried searching for other resellers and I think CCC is the only one.

    You are in for one hell of a ride, lol. I did a phase/water project once. It's like a giant puzzle, but you'll have a blast.

    Looks like you bought some anti-gravity parts up in the top picture.

    This should be a great project, keep us updated and work hard on it.

    It's so nice to finally have a case that people on XS also deem worthy. That OCZ unit looks awesome, and I wish I could have picked one up.

    What's with all the paint? Rubber undercoating?

    Update 01/3 on 10/01/2008

    Finally got some initial work done.

    Some pictures of the blocks used for the DFI Lanparty X48 and they are all fully compatible:

    Will be using 2 Ek's for the Radeon's:

    DD MCP Universal fits like a glove for that big X48 chipset :

    Very hard to find DFI X48 Mosfet blocks (to get these I had to organize a group buy here is XS Forum):

    Post Update 01/1 on 10/13/2008

    Time for a new update!

    I'm still waiting on some minor parts and also for OCZ Support to help me get my Cryo-Z going smoothly. So I decided to get some things done this weekend:

    Core Main Components

    *Just receive the Q9650 1.2125vid and those superb G.Skill Pi they are flowing 1300Mhz++ with less then 2.0v on these DFI X48 boards

    Naked Truth:

    *Clean as a whistle

    Voltmods?

    *Shook the dust out of my soldering iron and applied these simple 100k pots to raise DDR and Vcore volts a little

    Speed (raptors) and Storage (normal WD's):

    *Notice that I painted one of the Raptor's top Flat Black? I used mask tape of course...

    Before the cages where 2 and took a lot of space for 6 HD's

    Before:

    I decided to place 4 HD's in only one cage and twist the cage backwards so all the cables would be nice and clean hidden from the back, made new fitting holes too <TM> Just trade marked - Lian-Li MONEY for the IDEA PLEASE

    4 HD's in small cage:

    I used a 3m Heavy Duty 2 sided tape to place the last one on top, hope these 4 HD's don't fry in there!

    Done:

    New Cage inside the case with better lighting:

    Now for the PA120.3 mount:

    Fitted on the top:

    * This case was build to eat up PA's 120.3 for breakfast!

    Detail

    Grill

    From inside

    *Fill port and rad detailed

    Pump placement:

    * This is where the pump is going, decided to sound proof it a little any problem with overheating?

    I like the final looks:

    Update 2/3 on 10/01/2008:

    Decided to settle with the Dremel 678-01 Circle Cutter acessory to make the 120mm cuts on the top of the case, wow so simple to use and here the stuff I needed:
