    Question on EK Supreme

I recently won an EK Supreme in a raffle on another site I frequent. Go me.

To the point, my question is if the Supreme would be an upgrade over the Enzotech Sapphire I'm currently using now, in a CPU + GPU block loop with two radiators. The GPU block is a Fuzion GFX 2 and the radiators are an RS360 and PA120.1, with an MCP355 + XSPC DDC top. Using Bitspower 1/2" fittings all around, 1/2" tubing.

Before anyone asks, I've looked at Martinm's flow rate estimator and without a GPU block it predicts I'd be at the very lowest part of the "Great" area on the chart. The Fuzion GFX 2 is less restrictive than the original, and with the original GFX it'd put me in the middle of "Good." What exactly do those mean?

So I guess my question is whether using the Supreme with one pump would be any better than the Sapphire, or actually worse due to more restriction. I realize this is a tough question for which to give a definitive answer.

Perhaps even if it wouldn't perform any better, it'd be worth keeping for the eventual switch to Nehalem/i7, since I'm fairly sure EK would make a new bracket for the Supreme before Enzotech would make a new bracket for the Sapphire.

    Any thoughts?

You should get better performance from the EK Supreme given your current CPU block. There are plenty of people out there using an EK Supreme with more than one block in the loop.

I'm sure it'll be better than your old system. As long as you don't add another block...

I would say that it's a toss up. On one hand if you're happy with your current block then just keep it the way it is. If you're unhappy and would like to try the Supreme then go for it. You'll probably get better temperatures with the Supreme, but I wouldn't expect a big difference. I'd try it, have fun playing with your system and then tell us how your experience went.

Thanks guys, I'll give it a shot once I get the block.

Maybe get a better pump? I dont know how a MCP355 performs with 1/2" tubing as its ussually ran with 3/8".

Maybe replace your tubing with 3/8" tubing to keep your head pressure up. Dont worry as performance isnt really affected by tube size (despite what most ppl think). I just use 1/2" as its aesthetically pleasing (1/4" and 3/8" tubing just looks too thin to me).

I would try it and see, you could possibly see a degree or two. The supreme is an awesome quad core block, but it takes some mounting practice..

I am running the EK with a DD NB in the same loop and a MCP355 with XSPC Res top and it does great. Like Martin said, you may need to play with the mounting to get the best performance out of it. And as R3 said, try it you just might like it.

it should be, but try running it through the Flowrate Estimator.
