Simple and to the point, when does 1150 and Haswell launch?

Is the wait worth it for you?
Approx 6-10% faster than Ivybridge with more overclocking headroom.

I want to see pricing and performance before making any king of final choice. I wasn't going to upgrade until the end of April so June isn't that long.

every since the 1156 they have just taken the current line up's price and put the new chips on the table. they also had a leaked table with the same specs as the IB chips but with a 4 instead of a 3 to start the name. that leaked chart was verified by an intel engineer on a reddit AMA a month ago as well.

so, you are basically getting about 5% better clock for clock, for the same price, and it may or may not overclock better (i assume that depends on if it has solder or TIM under the IHS.) i would wait unless you need something, and maybe pick up a used IB when the sell off happens.

The Intel AMA said that it will overclock much better..."much" being subjective in its usage.

As someone who is already on what I would consider an amazing processor (it's no i7-3960...but hey *shrug*), I'm just going holdout for Broadwell.

they also said that for the IB, but then with the TIM it overclocks worse. i would expect everything to be the same as the move from SB to IB in terms of price and performance.

so if you are waiting to upgrade for fun then i could see waiting, but if you are not able to do what you want, or need a new box now then i dont think you will disappointed with the IB. i just hope that my question about the vt-d not being the K, and the guy not knowing why gets vt-d in the next k.

I'm not getting 5% or even 10% since better since I'm still using an i930 unoverclocked. Anything I do will be a hell of a good upgrade LOL! I have no problem buying off the performance curve (2 or 3 models down from the top) or latest or greatest. 250 to 300 is all I'm about to spend but I will not skip Ivy if Haswell doesn't blow it away temp, performance and or price wise. I want to see great improvements in at least 2 of the 3 things I mentioned.

If I were using what you have I wouldn't even care but I'm not in any hurry either.

That's not how the ticks and the tocks have worked in the past. It's been manufacturing process size, then improvements at that same size for the next model. Then slight improvements and a shrink, then improvements and fixes at that same size and so on.

you cannot buy down on the list if you want to be able to overclock. you have buy the top i7 or i5.

So I'll wait for Haswell i7 and not even going to overclock anyway. If the performance isn't worth the cost. I'll then get an IB instead, since it will be dead end and cheaper. Obsolete socketed mid range products don't hold their value that well.
