    Sandy Bridge - Bulldozer - Computer Chess Test!

    From now on you can use a new engine -> "Cyclone xTreme II"
    This engine is ready to handle 32cores!

    A program that do real calculatings and use all the cores or/and threads at 100%!
    For that i use a chess program and let computers calculate about 5min. and make my list with the highest nodes/s. at depth 22.

    So to keep it simple,just look to the nodes/s and hardware(clockspeed) and see how great your system will be!

    People who has interest to do also this test,you can download the files here!

    It's not difficult,no install needed,after test you can just delete the folder with the files, if you don't want to keep a full working chess program (it's freeware).

    The explenation of the test:

    Here you have the chess program.
    1.You have the user-interface 'Arena'
    2.The chess engine Cyclone xTreme II!

    I have put them already together..just do these things!
    There is no install needed!!

    1. Make a map/folder 'Arena'
    2. Put all files in this folder.
    3. Now you can start 'Arena' .exe
    4. You will see the chessboard with the analyse window under the chessboard.(empty now)
    This window give you the calculatings from the chess engine Cyclone xTreme II.
    5. First you have to select how many cores/threads you are running:
    - Select in Menu above chessboard 'Engines'
    - Then move mouse to 'Engine 1 / Cyclone xTreme II' -> little window show up
    - And select 'Configure'
    or fast way: -> "Ctrl+1"
    6. You get the Configuration window from the engine.
    - Now you see in left down-> 'Max Threads' 24
    - You can change this to the cores you use ex.2-4-8(max.32)
    - And confirm it by clicking on 'OK'
    7. Close the program and restart it,the core setting is done and will keep it till you change again!
    8. Above the board select in menu 'Levels' and choose 'Infinite'
    9. Press one time 'Spacebar'
    10. Computer begins to calculate...you will see lines scrolling in the analyse window,first number is Depth = how many moves forward in the game thinking,1,2,3...18,19,20..till you see 22!! So he is 22 moves deep in the game!
    11. It will take a few minutes (3-5min) after that you click on 'Stop' (right next chessboard)

    i don't know if you also use real temp,cpu-z -> else you can put them on the screen ,and make a screen when he is running (3-5min) at 100%

    12. Go to menu above the chessboard and click on 'Position' and select 'Copy Analyses to Clipboard'
    13. Now you can easy paste these analyses in a e-mail or text file and send it to me (also with the screen, if possible!)

    Core i7 processors (Bloomfield) will support two key technologies, which allows to optimize the energy consumption: Turbo mode and Integrated power gate. The first will allow to dynamically increase the frequency of the loaded cores in applications, badly optimized under multi-thread. In this case the energy consumption will not go beyond the limits TDP of those processor.
    AND electric power saving will be possible using the second technology - Integrated power gate. Due to the integrated advanced power control , the processor will be able to disconnect core (cores) individually. Thus, the loaded core in nehalem processors will be accelerated, while other will be disabled.

    I read your post but what I meant was is there a difference
    because as other site mentions and slide at Intel's IDF you can change the TDP limit yourself I am really interested with this one as it increase the clocks from 133mhz to 266mhz if the reports was to go by. but there is also reports about clock sync and those that work from Intel recommended not to change the clock frequency, I am by no means knowledgeable enough as others who actual have a Nehalem + mobo with them as I am conceding to the fact that some information I have maybe skewed

    Sorry @@@@...the only thing i know is that HT was disabled and in the taskmanarger i could see 4cores 100% other 4threads at 0% ,cpu 51% and for the rest nothing changed.

    Hi RaZz...TogaII142JD-8cpu is a chess engine who can handle till 8core(with this version)...no matter what system you have single,dual,quad..it just use the core who are available..so HT off only 4cores..HT on you use the 8threads!

    I have almost all of that information memorized - everything except for Lynnfield and Havendale. What I'm trying to figure out though are the QPI bus speeds and official multipliers. Was I correct with my findings?

    well if the 965=3.2Ghz=25x,940=2.93Ghz=22x,920=2.66GHz. after doing the math i get 20x multi for the 920.

    I have done a few calculatings how much faster the Nehalem will be at the same speed.
    I have make a excel file,but i don't know how to put it here online,maybe someone can help me with this!

    Here is a +/- speed up i get if i can overclock the Nehalem :

    QX9650 @3.6Ghz -> +41.34% for Nehalem @3.6Ghz
    QX9650 @4.0Ghz -> +46.40% for Nehalem @4.0Ghz
    Skulltrail @4.0Ghz -> +27.95% for Nehalem @4.0Ghz
    Skulltrail @4.2Ghz -> +20.44% for Nehalem @4.2Ghz

    PS. This was with a Nehalem (ES) ,so these are the min. differences speed up you get!
