Yeah, that score above was generated with ACC at 2,2,2,2. Definitely more stable at speed than Auto. On auto, I couldn't get through 3DMark06, on 2,2,2,2, it sailed through!!

This was a casual run, I'm starting the transplant to a proper water cooling system tomorrow. But it made it through 3DMark06 with no problem. This run was with 2 x 4870s. I'm gonna try the same with my 3 x 4850 machine and see what happens.

Just amazing to see a Phenom based system doing this..........

FYI, this looks like the fastest Phenom score in Futuremark!!!! Zowee

    We're catching the Intel guys!

Hi Nanohead awsome score...looking forwad to seeing more..!!!

I finally placed an order today for a M3A79-T....though I'm a little dubious about whether or not they had stock....I rang the retailer yesterday and they said they were getting stock today, I palced my order online today, and rang again later in the day to confirm, and the guy I spoke to on the phone sounded a bit confused, but said they had 2 in stock.... and that it should be sent as normal...

But I havn't had an e-mail confirming despatch or anything even though the website says that an email is sent confimring despatch...!!!! Its a reputable etailer, so should be OK but I'm a little wary as to whether they actually had stock or not....

I hope that it'll be OK, I;ve been waiting forever to get one of these mobo's.....!!

    THanks....

HAha...not a chance...as soon as it arrives I'll be stripping down my current rig, replacing the M3A32-MVP with the M3A79-T and putting my 9850BE in it....it'll be about a month again before I can get a 125W 9950BE, so I'm itching to see how the 9850 performs in it....

Max stable on the M3A32-MVP is 2.9Ghz. Hoping to finally get 3.0Ghz+ stable.... and depending on how much of an improvement it gets I may even try to hold off on the 125W 9950 until Deneb 3.0Ghz is available....

The M3A32-MCP will then replace the M2N32-SLI that I have a X2 6400+ in with a 3870, and will become my secondary PC. The M2N32-SLI will then be put out to pasture on ebay..... it served me well....!!!!

    RIP M2N32-SLI.. May 07 - Sep 08...!!!

No doubt about it. I went from 2.8 Prime stable in a Jetway (SB600) to 3.25 Prime stable in the 79-T. You'll like!

Awesome, we all know you waited a while for this one. I continue to be amazed at how competent this board is. I'm working on a temporary Vista 32bit install so I can do a few more tests of the RAID/SATA combos.

This time, I installed a plain Raptor using the AHCI/RAID driver via the RAID Option ROM, instead of the Asus BIOS. I set that up as the disk 1 boot device. I'm about to install 3 new WD 500GB drives and set up a RAID 5 array (SATA II) and see how that whole thing behaves. If all is well, I'll migrate everything from the DFI tonight.

I'm gonna get an SSD I decided as my boot device, just cuz my brain is the size of a peanut and I cannot control my urges. My wife is convinced I'm daft, but my kids think its cool that we have the fastest AMD phenom on futuremark ORB at the moment. This whole faster phenom thing is quite amusing I must say. I'm getting interested in this whole thing again. It was such a drag for the past year or so.

I just hope that when the bunch of us start getting these systems to present respectable numbers, all the naysayers will stop being such dolts and the rampant fanboyism will get quieter. But I'm an optimist

anyone know if this motherboard is available in the UK, and if so, where?

cant seem to find it in stock anywhere.

other than this, what other SB750 boards are available? i see the foxconn at overclockers.co.uk for a whopping 211 pounds. grr

    Hi Lightspeed..

I'm in the UK, the etailer I ordered from is Offilke.co.uk

But as I mention in the posts above, I'm a little dubious as to whether or not they had stock or not...

I rang them on Wed to ask about stock/availability and they asked me a couple of odd questions, like if the board was for myself, and if I needed it urgently etc..... before saying they were getting stock in on Thurs, I thanked them and said I'd order the next day.....

I ordered via the website, it took my order and payment, and then I rang them back again later that day, as I didn't get any email confiriming depsatch of the mobo, and the guy I spoke to sounded a bit confused but said they had 2 in stock and that it would be sent as normal.... that was Thursday evening....

I havn't receieved anything yet, though they're based in Scotland and I'm in South Wales, so didn;t really expect to get it overnight, there's no next day delivery service offered, just standard delivery.....

But so far its the closest I've been able to get to ordering one here in the UK, most other places seem to have no ctock and very poor re-stock dates, I think the latest is 7th Oct for some..... it sounds like availability is very limited here in the UK at the moment, hence the questions they asked me when I first rang I guess...!!!!

I've seen the Foxconn mobo around as well, but at £200+ there's no way I'm paying that much..... not sure why the price is so high for the Foxconn mobo, its not as if its got an amazing feature set or anything, the ASUS has more features than it IMO... at less price, which is somewhat unusual as I've become accustomed to ASUS being the most expensive brand, but seems that Foxconn are vying for the title now.... £211 = US $391 for a motherboard.... no way am I paying that....

I'll let you know if I have any luck with getting mine, I'm hoping that it may arrive on Mon/Tues now, if it hasn't arrived by Tuesday I'm going to query it with the seller to see what's going on...

If you can not follow the ciruit path simply try a few points around the Vsen pin.
Thanks for the help I'll get a pic up a little later after I try finding it.

Also I seem to have a strange anomaly.
    I just got a 125W 9950 and so far have OC'd it to 3.3Ghz @1.4375v and 2.4Ghz @ 1.4000v NB.

I'm running BOINC to stress the system and everything is fine and stable, but when I came home today ~19H of stress testing the system has a strange stuttering problem.
When moving the mouse and open windows and stuff there seems to be a strange lag and when playing music there is an obvious stutter in the sound.
So I restarted the system and everything was back to normal no more stutter .

This is the second time I've noticed this and both times a restart fixed this.
Right now I've boosted the vcore up to 1.4500 and updated the chipset drivers to see if it makes a difference.
I just wanted to know if anybody has noticed this strange behavior.

Oh BTW I'm running Vista x64 if this makes any difference.
Also I originally thought it was a sound driver problem with my X-Fi after updating the drivers, but I rolled back to the older ones and still the same thing.

Hey, is anyone else using Everest with the M3A79-T. It says my 12V is running @ 9.92, which is not correct. Asus Probe agrees with the BIOS which says 12.xx Also, AOD says its running @ 9.92, which doesn't make sense either.

I kinda confused. If it was just Everest, then I wouldn't care and just submit it as a bug to Lavalys. But AOD is also reading it wrong.....

Thanks guys! At least I'm not the only one....

I'm gonna post pictures of the board installed with EVERYTHING water cooled. The system is near silent, even under heavy gaming load. This is a great board (and Zalman makes a great power supply, that I don't hear!)

Here is with the water blocks installed, and then with the system completely plumbled and ready for boot.... a true nest of wires and hoses

I just wish the M3A79 had PCIe x1 slots instead of those PCI slots. As it is, I'm not willing to kill off a x8 slot for my x1 Xonar DX. I ultimately want to go 3x4850s and need a x8 for my RAID controller.
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.

    Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.

    Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.

    Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.

    Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.

Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!

    Random Tip o' the Whatever
You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.

Somebody want to post BIOS settings?

I just got this board and paired it with a 9950 BE.

I am very new to AMD chipsets and all of the BIOS settings that are different from Intel.

I was wondering if someone might post a templete or image of good settings for say a 3.4 overclock.

There are some wierd settings in the BIOS I have never even heard of being from the intel side for 5 years.

I would appreciate it if someone could post what some of these are and if I need to chnage anything other than FSB and voltage for over clocking the 9950.

    Thanks

AMD is different from Intel when it comes to overclocking. There is no such thing as a FSB for starters. Since you have a 9950 BE then I would stick with mainly trying to up the CPU multi and vcore to get a stable overclock. Also these things get pretty hot so in order for you to get a stable 24/7 3.4GHz you will probably need to have this on water since I bet you will need between 1.4 - 1.5 vcore to do it, unless you got a good chip.

I recommend you get the latest version of AOD (which is 2.1.4, and there is a link posted on the site somewhere, I just can't find it.). Use that to find stable settings and then once you have a them go to the BIOS and input your stable settings and then try and overclock it farther. Doing it this way will save you from having to clear your BIOS if you mess up.

Haha you think my avatar look funny you should look up "Hard Gay" on youtube its the funniest thing ever.
I guarantee that you'll laugh your head off!!
I'll take a look at youtube.... love that goofy stuff

FYI, I had to mess around with the Koolance PWM block mount. The screws that they gave were too thick for the holes in the mobo. I used some M4 metric screws, they worked fine. Also, I had to mount the whole assembly using one of the lower screw holes on the cold plate in order to get it fit (you can see it in the pic). We got lucky, because the cold plate has to push against the 8 Pin 12V mobo socket on the board, and the clasp on the 8 pin power supply connector just clears it

I also had to modify the Northbridge block by machining a small amount of material off, because there was a capacitor in the way.

Hope your install goes uneventful. Mine required a little brain surgery as usual. A little nip and tuck as it were.

Now I have to mod the video card cooling system. The VRMs get so freakin hot, the boards overheat and the system shuts down (I love a good heat problem to solve).... I'm gonna buy a hard drive cooler and cut it up into parts to use as a heat sink!!!

    CPWAW? Voltages?

If I'm not mistaken this is the new 125W version of 9950.
